Georgia Southern at Arkansas State discussion.
AState isn't that bad they are just disjointed and disorganized. Figure loss tonight with the long week off has AState at the tipping point. Lose to USA a week from Saturday and team quits.
Coaches have been preaching the gospel of execution and not much n what the coaches need to do. In my experience that hastens a team quitting.
On other matters seen two GaSo vehicles. One a dodge van with NC plates downtown and a white car out on Caraway. Sorely afraid they will enjoy the trip.

If you are referring to UCA, which beat State, then you are incorrect. Just to be clear, the talent level for State is probably decent but due to the incompetent coaching the players have received, we really don't know. This coaching staff assured the fans all summer how good the team could be and then fell on their collective face when fall practice rolled around. The head coach, Anderson, simply did not have any idea as how to address all the problems encountered.

Someone said State would be Charlotte by double-digits. I said that Charlotte beat their FCS team, unlike State.
Implication: It was a dig at State for losing to UCA, not to be taken seriously.

We nearly got held to negative rushing yards by an FCS school. Unless we completely abandon the run and pretend we're Texas Tech in disguise, you'll win. Even if we do abandon the run entirely, you'll probably put enough pressure on Hanson to win.
Wouldn't bet on it

That's what happened with TXST last year. The talent was there but there was no leadership and the coaches lost the team. Then the players gave up. Really I think after going 7-5 the previous year and not going bowling made a bunch of players give up.

The thing about our offense is...we are basically a stereotype of an option-run offense: relying on defensive mistakes and hoping you're just faster on the perimeter than the defense. That will work somewhat against WMU, it won't as well against Ark State. We haven't out-schemed anyone, we've been trying to out-athlete people and hope we can pass well enough to make up for not being as good running the ball. And the passing is better, but it's intermittent.
Our complete lack of any pass rush was also completely exposed in the WMU game as well. Not sure I like those receivers you have getting time to get open.
Much as I really hate to say it, I'm not feeling like this is a week off for us.
Called this one...

The Sun Belt is getting their first look this year at Valdosta High School and the 2007-2009 GS Eagles which is just as ho hum and mediocre as every other average college football team that calls 7-5 a good season.

I can't comment on TXST's other 11 games but the Bobcats had very obviously quit when they rolled into Jonesboro. That is the biggest life sucker for a fan, dealing with a team that has given up.
No idea what happened with TXST last year but after John Thompson quit a friend talked to him and John said Fran tried to talk him out of quitting but "there wasn't enough money in the world to get him to stay". Said the whole thing was toxic from the locker room to the coaches offices.

Had to bump this one because this one could be a repeat.
(Actually, I'm even more confident we'll lose this one than last year. I honestly think we've got the worst coaching in the FBS).

Team that can't run or pass against a team that can't stop the run. Something's got to give.

Can we beat Georgia Southern with both arms tied behind our defender's backs?

Please come into Paulson and stomp our lights out on national TV. Put us out of our misery. Maybe that would create the insurrection necessary to get rid of Summers.

If your guys agree to stop running when we bump into you hard, it shouldn't be a problem.

Nope. We're halfway decent at stopping the pass because you don't necessarily have to tackle the guy to do it.
But when someone gets the football and starts running forward, bad things happen.

Don't worry, we'll probably make your tackling look much improved.
