Accurate sources are one thing. The sources some people here have apparently aren't very accurate. Besides, I've never understood the whole "I need to know inside information before anyone else and before it's made public" thing. Can someone explain that mentality to me? Is it simply an ego thing? Surely it goes beyond that.

Those who thought this was a done deal hopefully will take an honest look at the program and identify some insufficient and improvable things, and invest the same effort improving those things. There are improvable things. There is no excuse not to do whats in our control to positively and tangibly (not empty words) improve the university and city. Lets each take initiative, do what we can, and collectively support each others efforts and contributions to lift this university and community to the next level. Never get complacent.

Take your issue up with the big players such as ESPN. What was once "a lock" can change in an instant and evidently it did. If our administration was shocked and blindsided by the announcement then there must've been some truth to what the "charlatans" were saying initially.

To all the "keep politics out of sports" crew, you got a good lesson on how politics run everything always. As was stated in this thread, UofM was simply too diverse. #Fact

For sure, tend to your hurt feelings, but the reality is that our admin and the whales funding our efforts believed we had a done deal. I can't speak for TC, but for the many good and well-intended people I know who were told we were in, there was no smugness or lying. They are not charlatans. They were simply relaying what they had been told by credible sources.

I see no reason for animosity toward people who were convinced we would receive an invitation.
