RE: "Task force recommends Athletics be more self-sustaining"
Lots of football players are married to the cheerleaders. NIU should do Mens XC. I do agree that Frazier doesn't do anything until B12 expansion.
The professors are pissed off and some of them blame athletics for why they aren't making more money. This is why they voted to expand classes for people that really shouldn't be in college.

Eh they should look more at NIU administration and their spending rather than athletics.
One example are those pup buses. Hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on this pet project of President Bakers and within 2 years the project of shuttling students on campus was discontinued.
Though no one will ever top the wasted money that EW went thru...tens of millions...some of which NIU is still paying back thru bonds.

The pup buses were dumb, no doubt. People laughed at them and were embarrassed to be seen riding them

He tried. And on a DeKalb winter day with the wind howling, anyone who laughed at those buses and refused to ride in one was a fool.

RE: "Task force recommends Athletics be more self-sustaining"
Professors "don't make money?"
Can we be more specific. I mean are we saying they don't make 150K on average? Or is that their line? There are plenty that make good money, well into 100's. Like with any public sector job, getting tenure is the key. Gradual increase every yr, then big pension kicks in. There is a big misconception about teachig in general. If someone thinks working as a professor/teacher for 25 yrs, making near, over 100k then getting 50...75% + when you retire, which for some allows them to get ANOTHER job if they are young, they are delusional or make a lot of $ themselves. But then again, the view of most teachers and 1st responders is everyone in the private sector makes well over 100k and has a million in their 401k. That with their "education" they could make far more there. If that is true, then they should go for it.
But yes, there is the cry for all these general studies classes which "professors" make far less to teach a course a grade school teacher could.Protect their own, get more money into the system.

1576 records
250 people at 100k+ a year with compensation
about 250 at 70k-100k.
500 at 35k or less.
Even Governor's State has about 150 people at 80k plus for a pretty worthless degree.
U of I takes the cake though. 1250 professors over 100k. Unreal.
Yup, those underpaid tenured instructors and their pensions.

school who is un-self-sustaining and students with massive amounts of student loan debts (also non-self-sustaining) requests Athletics to be more self-sustaining. Got it.
