Beat Nichols State, Idaho, Georgia State and Troy at home and NMSU and ULM on the road and USA is bowling. Lose any of those games and it gets harder. I'd say 50-50 are our chances of bowling this year.

More good news. Our low ranking is due in large part to questions about our QB situation. I think we're not going to be as bad as some think, but we don't have any 'must win' games early in the season, so we've got a chance to get the QB and the offense up to snuff. The only problem is ensuring that the team stays together as they likely will start 1-5.

Idaho has a good QB. Troy has a bit more depth. Georgia State is a question mark. But we get all three at home.

Small thing but you actually play Idaho in Moscow this year. I've already penciled it in as a revenge win for the Vandals to erase the shame of our collapse last year.

By the way, all teams below us on this list will receive a free copy of Smooth Sailing: Chuck Staben's Guide to a Seamless FCS Transition.

Imagine what FBS conferences would look like if those teams actually did transition to the FCS.

Hey, I actually think we're going to be pretty good this year. I just don't really expect anyone else to believe it yet. The PR this spring hasn't exactly been great.

It would be neat if both break 99. What are the odds?

Do you think it is that "we todd did" offense nobody wants to have to deal with preparing for? Where do teams charter into? Statesboro International? Savannah? What is the bus ride like(not that it matters for Athens) - looks like an hour if Savannah?

Will that offense change this year with the new staff?

I think that offense is exactly why nobody wants to schedule GA Southern. I absolutely hate when we play against teams that run that scheme. Maybe it's the fact that we usually don't do very well against it.

It's a bit more than 30 minutes to Savannah Hilton Head International.

GS runs the same offense several other FBS programs run? Georgia Tech and Army certainly run the t/o. GS's achilles heel could be how well their version of it is ran and the damage a blow out loss to GS could do to your program. Balling Green comes to mind.

We don't even run the triple option anymore. We run a gun spread option that I would say a good 30% of all teams run (think Auburn mixed with Oregon)

If these guys are smart (web traffic) they'll rank Georgia State one spot ahead of us.

#101 is Rutgers. Either Idaho and GSU made the top 100 or the Orlando Sentinel forgot we exist. Both options are live possibilities.

The real shocker to me is no UCF. Yes I know they are probably going to be better than 0-12 this year but come on anything above 100 can only be home cooking by the newspaper.

Yeah surprising because they are usually a pretty impartial knowledgeable staff. Maybe they know 0-12 was an anomaly.
