I'm inclined to agree with you but Kevin Ellison has accomplished more than any other returning QB in the 'belt with the Florida win his FR year, running the table in the conference his Soph year, and winning a bowl last year.
Ellison has been a great QB for our system but he is not as balanced as Lamb.
True and Lamb would not fit our system.
Yeah. It would be a waste of his talent to merely have him standing as a third running back.
I'm sure you meant that as a jab but you are correct. And I'm not offended, try again. He would not be a qb at southern but that's okay. The kid is still an excellent fit for App and hard to stop. I love watching him play.

App and Southern compete for a lot of the same players, but qb usually isn't one of them, The last one I can think of is Edwards.

But Not both for qb, I think App wanted him to play db or something. But depending on where this new staff is taking us offensively, we may be in more competition with App.

I believe they wanted him for WR.

not really, Edwards wanted to play qb, it was a big reason he didn't end up at South Carolina or Clemson, App told him he would be given a legitimate shot at the position, we lived up to our end of the bargain, gave him a shot at qb, and god bless him, he proved all the experts at SC and Clemson wrong. Going forward, If your new coach lives up to his promise of a more balanced offense, then your right, App and GS will begin competing for qbs.

Look like they have settled on Justice Hansen( who was the 1st QB to play tonight) and James Tabary ( who was the heir apparent to Knighten), as their top two, and while Hansen is a much better athlete, there did not appear to be lot of separation between the two today.
Their eight or so healthy OL were no match for their DL, which looks to be 3 deep at every position up front. That allowed their LB's, and DB's to smother everything, so the offense simply could not get anything going.
In their defense the defense, which was outstanding when healthy last year is even better this year, so they will not be the last offense to have a bad day against them.
The 2016 version of A-State is the most talented of the recent run of decent teams, and they expect to add a couple more" impact" players before fall camp. Remember their goal is to be the best G5 team, not best SBC team......because they already are
SI- I heard about all the talent they are amassing at stAte. Not sure if it is a rumor or not but I have been told Saban flew into Jonesboro to recruit some of them to come down to Bama as transfers but when he landed he found Belichick had already convinced them to move to New England.
Do you think stAte will be in the playoff this year? With all of the talent I don't see how they can't be. I personally have them as the 2 seed in my first playoff projection (Bama gets the 1 because of normal P5 bias).
I know GS fans don't understand since they haven't played A-State yet, but there's a reason they've won four titles in five years. I'd be rolling my eyes my too, but as obnoxious as SI is, he's usually right.
As good as GS record is on their home field, A-State is just as good in Jonesboro. They're 17-3 at home and 33-5 overall vs SBC teams since 2011.
There is a reason, which has nothing to do with me,and for the record I am not in a position to know how their QB's compare the the other SBC teams, because I have not compared them.
I just know they have the most talented group of players they have had at that position.
While how they are now accumulating talent hurts them in the recruiting rankings they have in fact added the most talented group of newbies in the SBC, to the most talented roster of players in the SBC.
The level of that new talent has apparently cost them a quality QB, and may cost them others, as players, who were more than talented enough to beat SBC competition, come to realize they are coming up a little short beating the newbies joining their roster, or returning after being injured early last year.

This Southern fan is keeping quiet about our season. New coach. I've never been more uncertain about a new hire than this year. Cautiously optimistic.

It must be familiar by now with the turnover you've had of late. All-in-all you've been very successful for a team with so many head coaching changes in such a short period of time. Maybe you feel like you're overdue for a bad hire and that's why you're tempering your enthusiasm.
That being said, it's really not in your fan base's nature to keep quiet and dial down optimism.

I'm a little bit more optimistic. I feel like people were a lot more worried the off-season before Fritz than they are about Coach Summers. CTS has a better resume than Fritz and while not having experience as a head coach, he's worked along side some great ones minus that one time in 2006. He's been an assistant coach on BCS bowl teams, worked along side Mike Bobo at CSU, and he knows what to do to be successful at this level of football. All-in-all I think Coach Summers has less question marks than Fritz did when he was first starting.

Just a gut feeling, no inside info. Hope I'm wrong. Of course I'm a pessimist by nature. Don't worry though, hell will freeze before our fan base dials down expectations. Which part of me is okay with, within reason.

It looks like A-State will have a couple 247 4-Stars competing at QB for 2016.
Pitt graduate transfer Chad Voytik and former Oklahoma signee Justice Hansen.
Tabary and Birse are going FCS.

He played very well as a starter at Pitt, and should push Justice Hansen this fall.
Hansen is just a Soph, and D.J. Pearson a RS-Freshman so the added experience is a big plus. Should enable them to RS incoming freshman Logan Bonner.

As talented as A-State's QB Justice Hansen is, he will have a very hard time keeping their latest addition, Chad Voytik off the field next fall.
Some highlights from 2014 at Pitt:
