Oh wow. A walk, stolen base and key error ties it up, all with 2 outs.

Didn't think we would but it honestly makes sense. He is our usual Sat starter. This past weekend due to easter the series was Thurs, Fri, Sat. So he actually pitched on Friday of last week, got roughed up and had a short 3 inning outing. So he was rested and should be able to turn around and still pitch Sunday.

Our midweek arms are definitely a weakness, so I guess it worked assuming it doesn't kills us against Houston this weekend.

CG,
This is the part of the job that I will never miss. You've got guys beating their chest over a mid week game that they threw their weekend guy on. Highlights, really...on a UNCW board? Funny stuff.

Nothing to beat the chest about. We have an 8 game stretch of top 35 opponents... had an opportunity to get one and took it. Wolfe got shelled Friday and only threw 43 pitches so he was available. Hopefully Cliff Godwin's recruiting will return us to a point where a guy like Wolfe is our midweek starter, but until then we will make do with the pitching depth mess that Billy Godwin left behind.

You all saw our normal staff midweek after Wolfe left. Not good.

Sorry, but what did the nine runs have to do with their struggling weekend pitcher throwing tonight? As usually, we cannot touch their weekend guys and that's why we will never make it past a 3-4 seed in the tourney. They also through guy coming of TJ surgery and we shelled him. You do know Bill, we have done the same thing over the years right? if I recall correctly, you always defended that.

It's not the first time Bill they do that crap all the time against us. Scalf on the other hand treats it as just another week night game most times

You might want to look at the history a little closer. Until we can handle a guy that sucked it up one weekend, so bad that he only through 24 pitches, we'll continue to live outside the top 25. Just one time, I'd like to see us finish in the top 25, but this coach and everyone around him is perfectly content with just winning this crap conference and getting a 3-4 seed.

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong with all of the above, Beachbum. For starters:

1) We've been getting 2-seeds, not 3 or 4's, of late. Big difference. That means the committee at least considers us, consistently, a top 32 team. And we've never had a Regional where we failed to win at least one game. Eventually, a Super Regional breakthrough is not only possible, it is likely one of these days.

2) We don't throw our weekend guys on weekdays. Not in a very long time as far as I can recall, or really ever.

3) We're NOT content being outside the Top 25. Scalf, Hood and company have worked very hard to make us a perennial power, both regionally and nationally. As a result we have a top 10 offense in America right now (just ask NC State what they think about us). No, we didn't hit ECU last night, but we are trending up. Our best (or 2nd best) hitter right now, Nick Feight, is just a Sophomore. Brian Mims is also a Sophomore and one of our top guys offensively AND defensively.

And we're doing all of this despite being one of 2 CAA programs who are NOT fully-funded in our 9-team conference. That's insane. From a dollar spent:wins ratio, no team in the country except for UNC and Cal State Fullerton has gotten more production out of their budget than us. (Source: http://www.valuepenguin.com/2015/06/best...t-decade).

Seeing as these are your 2nd and 3rd posts on this board I can only assume you're a troll or an ECU fan until proven otherwise. So either stand there in your wrongness or go away.

I have been to several of these game dover the years and do recall us throwing a starter. What does it matter anyway? Beat whomever they throw. So now I'm a troll because I have higher expectations for our baseball program? Yeah, I know we got a # seed or two, but mostly we have been 3-4, win a game or two and then go home. I pay a lot of attention to baseball and I can tell you, Scalf is not competing on the recruiting trail. Cliff Godwin is tearing it up, so I only expect to see more losses to them in the future. Just one top 25 finish and I will be happy. If not, it's time for an upgrade.

See, the truth is you just either don't know your history or are blatantly trying to change it to fit your perception. In either case you lose credibility when you try to make this argument.

We have NEVER been a 4-seed at the Regionals. Only 2's and 3's. And in 4 of the 7 Regionals, we made it the Regional Final:

2003: 3-seed (Reached Regional Final)
2004: 3-seed (Reached Regional Final)
2006: 3-seed
2008: 2-seed (Reached Regional Final)
2012: 3-seed
2013: 2-seed
2015: 2-seed (Reached Regional Final)

And if Scalf really isn't competing on the recruiting trail, wouldn't you agree that a big reason that might be the case is because of a lack of resources (as I referenced earlier), not lack of effort by Scalf and Hood? Just a thought.

Every couple years it seems we get somebody on here who wants to rip on Scalf. Every year I have to lay a furious smackdown on them that makes them leave with their tail between their legs.

Ordinarily it would be fun, but these days, its just sad. Of all the things to complain about at UNCW, the last thing anyone should complain about is our Baseball program. It's been the shining example of continuity and sustained success on this campus for decades even when everything else goes to sh*t.

I want a Super Regional appearance and a trip to Omaha as much as everyone. But the easiest way to ensure that doesn't happen anytime soon would be for people to turn on Coach Scalf (not that anyone actually is unless they're completely ignorant). Re-double our efforts in supporting him and this program and we'll get there.

WOW! is he your dad or something? I expect more, you don't. can we not agree to disagree or must you so childish? Truth is, I could coach this team to a regional on occasion, but I expect us to be there every year with few exceptions. If you are happy with a few CAA conf. championships, so be it, but it is really not saying much is it? Get us in the top 25 or move on to the next guy that can. You might want to pay attention to recruiting. We are getting left in the dust again.

But but but, everyone said we were now fully funded as of a couple years ago when Bass came in. OK, I was wrong on the 4 seeds, but as you showed me, the majority of the seeds were 3's. In the eyes of good programs, that is failure and will get you fired, but we have such low expectations, I guess I should just accept it.

We were ranked as high as 22nd just last year. We beat #13 Charleston twice to win the CAA tourney. We finished second to #1 seed and #5 ranked LSU 2-0 in the championship game.

LOL. Let's talk about rankings at the end of the season. When are we going to see our name in this listing? Are you OK with being outside the top 25 year in and year out at the end of the season? What exactly are your expectations?
