The only 'Bama coach that I'd have any interest in is T.R. Dunn as a bench coach.

If Pelphrey is hired, I'd be tempted to walk away as a fan. There is a reason he wears headsets at basketball games.

Theodore Roosevelt Dunn graduated from West End HS in 1973 and as far as I know at this time, is the only basketball player from Alabama to make a life long career from the sport. Dunn has been recognized as a powerful teacher of the defensive side of basketball. He has coached both men's BB and women's BB (HC in the WNBA)

Since it was brought up, TR Dunn as an assistant would also be ok with me.

Don't understand why that other school didn't hire him as head coach.

I imagine we will get the Encyclopedia Brittanica version shortly.

EVERY HC in a sport started off as an assistant on "one side of the ball" or the other. Some become so identified with one of these that they remain there for most or all of their coaching careers. In TR's case, it might be just that. To my knowledge, TR has never been a NBA HC, but has never been unemployed for long either. He was hired as an assistant coach by Gottfried while at Bama, but they hired the guy from VCU instead.

It was for 1 year only. TR discovered something he did not like (maybe) during that year.

Not true. Gene Bartow was never an assistant at any level.

Correct me on this as well, but I believe he never played organized basketball either.

Gottfried's made a living at basketball and plays with very very clean golf balls.
