Being that the schools have stated no desire for a CCG even with 12 teams, there is no reason to stay at 12 and letting Idaho and NMSU go will happen.

They're at the very least a buffer against raiding. That's reason enough to not contract.

We are not going to 10 teams unless those two teams leave on their own.

If this passes there is no real need for anyone (aka the Big 12) to expand. No expansion mean no raiding as no other conference is even talking about adding teams.

You're right. We shouldn't be cautious at all regarding the always changing football landscape.

No hate from me, I think Idaho played pretty well against us both years and I wish you success in the future when not playing GS. I just had to give you a hand for existing, it was pretty funny the way you stated that.

Also, I thought I had read before that the SB did keep a portion of the $1 million each for Idaho and NMSU to offset travel costs, can we confirm that this is not true?

Thanks. I'm pretty confident we're not paying travel subsidies now, nor do I think we should. We're not asking people to bring their non-revenue volleyball teams up to Moscow. This is FBS football -- it involves plane travel. Hell, even if we went indy we'd probably end up scheduling H&Hs with most of the conference at some point. No travel subsidies for those.

I wouldn't be overconfident about that. Oklahoma's prez has been pretty vocal about expansion, and the whole conference is still not thrilled with Texas. If any of those schools finds an avenue into the B1G or ACC they may walk, and then the whole thing blows up again.

Obviously schools will move around at some point as history shows there is a reshuffling about every 10 years or so, but I doubt anything will happen within the next 5 years unless there is a huge realignment between several G5's. If that happens it doesn't matter if we have 10 or 12.

I have nothing against Idaho, but I don't think it makes sense for you to be in the Sun Belt. Same goes for NMSU unless they get added as a full member along with a new member in the east.

You're probably right. Your house probably won't burn down in the next 5 years either, but I bet you still buy insurance.

Having been through that fear once...I'd just as soon not do it again. Safety in numbers.

To be clear this is the proposal that a conference less than 12 members can have a champ game if a round robin schedule is done and top 2 teams play in champ game, right?

Amended conference deregulation passes. Everyone in favor except AAC and ACC.

10-team conferences must hold round robin schedule to hold CCG.

Yeah a few possibilities for why come to mind but I'd be interested to hear an explanation for it myself.

They do if they don't want to play 9 conference games. Last I heard they didn't.

The AAC should vote yes to lessen the likelihood the Big 12 would raid them.

So does this mean that Idaho and NMSU can get comfortable? Unpack our bags? Hang a pic of our family on the wall?

I hope so. I can't keep sucking in my gut around these guys for much longer. Let me know when it's time to put on the wifebeater and grab a case of Keystone.
