RE: Towson Game
We missed a lot of shots today that we normally make. Towson's physical play along with no calls to go with it turned us into a jump shooting team and alternately an out of control turnover team. Very uncharacteristic game for us.

RE: Towson Game
Spotty video feed ... then spotty radio feed ... Watching the stats feed was not fun.

Just one game ... but we've all seen this before. Laid some real eggs at home over the years.

Tribe was 11 1/2 point favorites in this morning's paper. Ugh!

I had a feeling that letting the 12 point lead go down to 5 before half time was going to haunt ...

I always like to hope for / dream of an at large bid ... going to be real tough now.

Moving on ... beat CofC on Saturday ... and run off a nice winning streak in conference play.

Towson Game
There was quite a disparity wrt offensive rebounds; a key stat. We are a perimeter team. Mostly a finesse team. We don't play jungle ball. When doing so it's important to remember the law of the jungle. The big ones eat the little ones. That's what I used to preach to my fourth graders over a 12 year teaching stint in long beach. It worked at Stevenson elem and its works at the Kaplan.
At the risk of repeating myself, it's a paint game.

We have to play with only two days rest multiple times this year...and three in a row in Baltimore. Enough with the fatigue BS. If we are that tired, use the bench or call timeouts to rest players. Do not want to start with two home conference losses right off the bat.

Love our team and love Terry Tarpey but offensively he hasn't been great this year. Look for our guys to bounce back on Saturday.

RE: Towson Game
Towson is a good offensive rebounding team because they miss a lot of shots, including close up. When we were getting calls when they pushed, we were boxing out well. When they jumped over our backs with no call, they got the rebounds.

Based on our substitution patterns, Coach Shaver expects players to go hard for 4-6 minutes and then get a rest. You can work on cardio all you want, but when usage changes it can negatively affect play. You tell me I'm getting a rest in 6 minutes, I'm not going to conserve energy for minutes 8-10.

RE: Towson Game
These are the games that make me hate to be a Tribe fan... You let a bad team (probably 2nd worst to Drexel) completely outhustle and outphysical you at home and completely waste the good OOC showing the team had.

I don't want to hear any crap about them being tired from playing on Tuesday. If this team wants to win the CAA championship, they are going to have to win 3 games in 3 days.

Before the CMU game, they had a week off. If they are tired from just 1 game that happened 2 days ago, then Shaver needs to have this team run for the next week to build up endurance.

That being said, put this loss behind us and focus on Saturday. We cannot afford to start off 0-2

This has always been the case with Towson, including the good years when they had Benimon. They throw up bricks and their entire team crashes the glass, which leads to easy transition baskets when teams get defensive rebounds.

Towson Game
It's hard to be a fan. I just returned from Lawrence where the Jayhawks schooled us. Let's get past this game and get ready for Saturday.

First of all, no one knows how good or bad TU is this year. Secondly, shame on those who find it hard to be a Tribe fan for any reason, much less because of one loss to a conference opponent. You're on a messageboard because you're a fanatic, not a fairweather fan.

RE: Towson Game
I understand the frustration. Felt the same way after we blew the Howard game. None of us are Tribe fans because of our glorious basketball tradition. We used to have a theme song at the beginning of Tribe games on the radio. It went "Tribe Pride...Get it! This is the year for William and Mary." My wife always says, "well...is THIS the year?" I want her to stop asking, and then we play a game like we did today.

RE: Towson Game
I've watched every game I could either go to or see on the internet. This game wasn't nearly as bad or pathetic as many on these boards are making it out to be. Towson had a game plan to pound it inside and not give us lanes to the basket. They did both well. Notice that Prewitt didn't have his patented go to the hoop today. Without being able to penetrate our three balls weren't wide open. Many of the misses were contested or ill advised. Great coaching by Pat Skerry.

We aren't bad, and our RPI will go up and down. Let's get away from going nuts each game when we win or lose and just keep steady. I'll also go out on a limb and say that the Howard loss won't be as bad as we think when the season is over and they have a lot more wins. We haven't played a crappy D1 team all year, and beat NC State, Played number 5 UVA tough and lost to a good Dayton team at their place. Tomorrow the sun will come up and we can start over.

Let's remember that a few years ago our season was over by now.

there's no reason to worry about RPI. We're not going to get an at large. It's not relevant.

RE: Towson Game
Long season. It was a bad second half. Each of the last two seasons we were above .500 in the league and we had some home losses. Hopefully the one today will replace Delaware which we have had the last two years. 4-2 in each 6 game stretch would be a good season. Saturday is big. Nobody is going better than 15-3 in our league. This loss was similar to any Delaware loss or the one to Elon last year. It is not the end of the world. We do need Tarpey to start hitting shots. It is the only thing missing from his game. Omar had a tough game too.

If we were 18-0 in conference, our projected RPI would have been 9. Do you think we would get an at large then? Every game matters whether you like it or not when you are a mid major. When Hofstra beats Towson by 20 on Saturday, we'll see how good Towson is this year.

People make some good points on here. But my point is this: can we please PLEASE just beat Towson. Lose to whoever you want. But can we please beat that pathetic should-be DIII commuter school from Maryland. I ******* hate those guys.

Glad to see we keep expectations realistic around here.

RE: Towson Game
I'm pretty sure both VCU and GMU in their final four days still dropped CAA conference games. It's unrealistic to not drop some games when a conference has a lot of talented teams and know each other so well.
