This team wants me to go into cadiac arrest. I'm sure of it.
Whew, another W against a quality opponent.

Wow! A gutty win against a good opponent. I'm not sure why it was as close as it was, though...

They were picked to win the MAC, again, and Fowler and Rayson are a very good pair of guards.

Take a deep breathe. Hope none of your fans had a cardiac arrest. That was a good team you beat tonight. Hope that kept the conference in 8th rpi wise. Would have been a lock if NU had beat NCAA. You did your part.

I'm thinking that it is about time for free throw shooting practice to begin...

CMU is much better than their awful rpi. This will be a good win come February.
Our current rpi is 51...much better than VCU and better than Wichita State. We can only hope to look better than those programs in two months.

We actually shot 73.3% from the line (22 of 30). Issue was 3 of 6 in last :36 and 6 of 10 in last minute. Before that, we were 16 of 20 which is really good.

RE: Central Michigan Game
Attacking the basket paid off again for us. On the postgame, Coach Shaver credited his assistants with calling for a defensive change to zone, which worked because we still challenged threes. We played defense like we thought the game was over with 30 seconds left, and they hit a couple open looks.
Omar is a 1st team All-CAA player this year. Tarpey is a great all around player, Dixon's been huge, but Omar has put us on his back and carried us through games.
I liked going without a PG when they weren't pressing and fouling, but I would have liked to have seen Cohn in the game at the end to get open.

With that win, we moved up to 47 according to http://www.rpiforecast.com/live-rpi.html
Conference RPI stayed at 8 despite the losses by Delaware and Northeastern (to NC State)

I will absolutely take that win. The last minute was terrifying but all that will matter in March is the W

RE: Central Michigan Game
Once again The Tribe won a game against a quality team when they did not give in down the stretch. This team seems to have learned how to hang on and win games and there are not too many W&M basketball teams have demonstrated this trait. Hopefully this will carry over into CAA play.

We hit 10 in a row when Mr Ribe went into his look-the-other-way-and-hold-one-foot-up stance.

Let's see. Effective dribble-drive penetration with effective kickouts to three-point shooters. Reminds me of the team we host on 1/9/16.
So I'm not sure whether to be happy we won or worried we gave up 84.
(I know - we should always be happy when we beat a quality opponent.)

RE: Central Michigan Game
Good game. Central Michigan was a very athletic and tough team. The 6'8" kid was deadly from outside and their guards were physical. They are as good as anyone we'll play the rest of the regular season.
Some things are emerging with this team both good and bad. First the bad. We are very thin at point guard. I didn't look at the stats, but we had lineups without Cohn, Tot, and Schlotman for at least 10 minutes. With that said, maybe Burchfield is forcing his way into the rotation. We have no threat inside with our big men other than via backdoor cuts or pick and roll. Not good. Seacat isn't ready yet and Whitman seems like he's out for a while. Overall defense out of Cohn and Prewitt is lacking and with both it looks like concentration problems.
Now for the good. I mentioned Burchfield. He's really a scoring threat and it seems like this is going to be a breakout year for him. I don't think any of us predicted that. Malinowski is turning into Tarpey junior. He is going to give us 20 good minutes a night playing guard and forward. Dixon is getting more points in the paint and off the dribble. Omar is playing very patiently on offense. His aggressive takes to the basket are starting to become more and more common and we need that.
We'll see what we're made of on Thursday. Go Tribe.

I read some of those tweets as well. I cannot imagine why he would have been there, save a family member playing for CMU.
I believe Rayshawn Simmons is from the St Louis area Beal is from. Maybe they are buddies or kin.

RE: Central Michigan Game
This was a great win for our guys....again they showed resilience and toughness against a very good opponent
(Tony called CMU the "best out-of-conference home opponent we've played here" his entire time here).
With two terrific guards and four three-point sharpshooters on CMU I'll agree 100%.
Some comments:
*We scored 57 points in the second half!! Shot almost 60% from the field and also made 75% of our foul shots in that half. Played outstanding offensive basketball: 17 assists on 29 baskets, many wonderful passes to set up baskets. Team had just 7 turnovers on the night against a very athletic CMU defense.
*Team depth again a major factor in a big win. Malinowski another double-diget point effort. In just five minutes Tot had a layup for two points and three assists with no turnovers. And Connor Burchfield? This gut (whom I call "The Shadow" since he's so thin you don't see him when he turns sideways!). Just a three-point machine--four for six last night. You're shocked when he misses one.
*Cohn, although he scares you all the time with his pell-mell brand of play, had five big assists, four points, and a key steal.
*Sheldon held his own under the basket, played out on the point well setting up blocks, and---with Whitman out--played lots of minutes.
*And the Big Three all had very good offensive nights led by Prewitt's offensive barrage of 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists a steal and a blocked shot. Omar's variety of shots makes him very difficult to guard
and he's getting better--a thousand plus points and counting! I thought he played a very disciplined game last night. And 12 of 14 from the free throw line!
*Tarpey another big game...glad to see him shoot more including two lovely jump shots for baskets...12 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocked shots. Plus he also helped mop a wet floor in the second half...what doesn't this guy do?
*And Daniel Dixon. Wow...19 points including a clutch 5 for 6 foul shooting. Two assists and a block
(plus another huge block that somehow was called a foul). Mr Heat Check turns it on night after night.
Before the season everyone was saying we'd be in good shape going 6-5 against this tough non-conference schedule. Well, we went 8-3 and could easily be 10-1.
A tough turnaround now with another game tomoow at 1 PM and another Saturday at 4 PM. Two big conference games. Let's keep it going.
***And, bye the bye, the crowd of almost 3500 last night was both surprising and loud. A great evening with twin-bill wins over ODU and CMU.
