Ahh I'm going to say bad coaching.

To Flushes earlier point about playing cupcakes leading up to this last game.

I'm on the record for not agreeing to the softening of Broncodom due to the previous opponents (excluding MSU, GSU and OSU).

What I will argue is that I haven't seen anything very different done over the course of the season: High dependence on #8 and #84 in receiving. Defensively, the schemes are not as clear to me but it appeared that BGSU was clearly prepared to make WMU do things on D that they weren't comfortable (Chinese fire drills I saw on WMU D side of the ball) and dare WMU to get out of their comfort zone on O to beat the Falcons.

IOW, BGSU dictated tempo, strategy and execution.

San's Haldemann's contribution the score would have been even more indicative of the dominance of BGSU's game plan and execution.

ZT's holding the ball .... for too long this time .... doesn't point to ZT per say ... simply that what had worked with #8 and 84 finally breaking free earlier in the year allowed by earlier opp's who hadn't necessarily seen WMU for as long to see those tendencies wasn't allowed by BGSU who intentionally didn't allow for either to break free.

The key here is the staff didn't make the adjustments. IMO.

I think the occasional draw play to bellamy or bogan would have been extremely effective. Especially in what was expected to be an obvious passing down.

True. Three throws to the TE all year........all completed, two for TDs.

You can count on one hand how many times Roberts has been throw to. Henry has done nothing but make big catches, but again, rarely called on.

Rest assured, what BG did won't be lost on future opponents.

This is a good idea. The problem is, most of the time when we are in obvious passing downs, Fabian Johnson is in the game. I'm not diminishing Johnson's contributions - he is a great blocker on passing downs - but we never run draws with him or have him run the ball, so the defense knows a pass play is coming.

A Draw is a good play on 1st Down.

On an obvious pass down (3rd and Long), almost guaranteed to have you punting next play.

However, I do agree that there's still room for improvement (moving around in the pocket, having a mental clock, going through progressions, etc.)

Simple fact is we don't know if that's on the coaches, or if it's one of Terrell's flaws. I don't think it's so black and white.

Let's not forget that Terrell has been one of the elite QB's in this league. We're kind of nit-picking here, and we're also making a lot assumptions based on one game.

One bad game does not define a player. He's be great all year and now he'll bounce back.

Agreed. I think he bounces back in a big way against NIU.

Got a good feeling about this game, although that's probably foolish given our recent history in DeKalb.

NIU will be ready. There isnt any love lost on that side of the field for the Admiral. Ready meaning that WMU will be well scouted and prepped for. Expect NIU to intentionally deny what WMU likes to do to see if adjustments will be made. It wont be left to just smash mouth we'll out physical you. That certainly comes into play but I suspect NIU is going to be strategic. Play NIU's game and force WMU into uncharted waters or at least provide the only out of going where you aren't comfortable to beat NIU.

Against BGSU I thought the 2nd half was key. WMU started to come up dry on O juxtaposed against BGSU forcing WMU into doing things it hadnt intended on D. The O tried to force their game plan and it played right into what BGSU wanted. On D WMU was consistently scrambling to get fresh bodies and proper match ups and it looked like a Chinese fire drill. In both instances WMU's confidence waned and at times resorted to playing "tough not smart".

I expect NIU to play their version of that and how WMU is prepped and adjusts will determine their lean. Vs BGSU it progressed to back on their heals and we saw the result.

Time for Fleck to score a break-through or signature victory. Has two chances to do it before Post-Season.

Signature victory? You mean beat a good team? One in the same?

It's time.

But my concern is on D. No push puts extreme pressure on CB's. I love Zamort but at 5'9 and in the red zone a jump ball is a gimme.

I have read about Rolle only playing Special Teams. I understand he made a mistake but paid the price. Not sure why his athleticism isn't on the field for more. Make him your blitzer or the one who covers the slot. I love Caleb Bailey but those match ups in space weren't fair. Austin Lewis for his celebrated athleticism isn't standing out as I thought. Likely I put too much into it and not a fair appraisal. Or maybe it's time to say thank you Grant and make CB the middle backer and add Rolle to Lewis?

Other than occasional head scratchers on play calling the O is in great shape. Use the TE's to receive or as suggested run Fabian and not be so predictable and now NIU is on their heels.

Lions' defense won the game by pressuring Packers virtually every down, all game long.

Great coaching job by Terryl Austin.

Of course, if Crosby doesn't choke on last play, 52-yard FG attempt...

I would keep Austin.
