Sorry, seen Fritz coach the past 5/6 years. He's not one to make excuses for a loss.
However, seems he saw this and felt it needed addressing but I don't read into it as it being an excuse/reason for the outcome.
Exactly, App fans are reading too much into this.
Somebody is, but it isn't App fans.
I wish they'd found the ass hole and thrown him out of the game, but Fritz and the GaSo fan base are REALLY playing this up. You can repeat "I'm not using it as an excuse" all you want, but when the head coach is belly aching to the media a week after the game and their fan base is acting like this (likely small, handheld) laser was a Star Wars blaster, it reeks of butthurt.
Time to move one. I hope we police our games better. Moreover, I hope Southern fans can just let it go.
You gotta let the cardboard disc thing go then. We've heard plenty about that too.
No one is saying it's an excuse. In reality even if it did make an impact on the FG, obviously 3 points were not the difference in that game so it's not an impact.
But the fact that it happened at all is enough to raise the concern. Green lasers (in the 532nm wavelength) especially are harmful due to the amount of energy delivered when it impinges on your eye (yay engineering degree). Granted, at the range they were being used, permanent damage to eyesight is unlikely, but it's still not good this was happening.
Coach Fritz doesn't whine or complain about things, and he is very calculated in the things he talks about in the media. If he's mentioning it like this, it was pretty obvious. He's also protecting his players, and that's never a bad thing. I wouldn't get all upset about him talking about this.
I've made some jokes here and there, and haven't gotten bent out of shape about it (Quick didn't make the catch btw), and I also know GSU Eagles is in somewhat troll mode here, but the important thing moving forward is that the fanbase is aware of it and hopefully will help police it. I'm not going to go off and say it makes the App fans classless, it's just someone being dumb in the crowd.
However, this doesn't need to be something that keeps occurring either.
