I know y'all (Troy) hate Jax St, but they seem to have a pretty solid squad. Sucks that they are also in AL. I understand why you are so against them though, I feel the same way when y'all talk about SHSU moving up.
Now that I think about it, this poster of theirs makes me and probably everyone else here dislike them as well.

Jax State could theoretically benefit the conference. They're a good squad. However, with Georgia Southern, Georgia State, UAB, Southern Miss, Troy, and South Alabama all crowding mostly the same space, we don't need another program taking valuable resources. I'm sure CUSA feels the same way with UAB, USM, and MTSU all in the tri-state area. Their best bet is the AAC but that's probably just a pipe dream. I suspect it will be 15 or 20 years before JSU has the chance to move up.

Jax st = chatty #5 and EKU # 14 and better than ccu any day. Also the "loss" at AU is more impressive than ccu's whole schedule. If semo played ccu's schedule they probably be undefeated.
I'm sure JSU fans feel like Troy, South, and UAB in FBS football is like being picked last in kickball, except the limit's been met so they don't get to play at all.
My issue with JSU has nothing to do with their on-field success, they've built a nice little FCS program in North Alabama their fans can be proud of. My problem with them wanting to move up to the Big Boys is just what TF05 said, too many G5 programs in place already and a desire not to oversaturate the area further.
The Great State of Alabama has 2 solid G5 programs already in place, Troy and South. UAB "taking a break" doesn't open up the door for Jax State, in fact it would be better if the Blazers didn't return or came back as an FCS level program. I know UAB fans despise me for saying that but it's true. They've never been consistently competitive at the FBS level, which is why South was able to come on so fast.
Alabama has 4 brand name Division 1 programs in Bama, Auburn, Troy, and South. Jax St and UAB should be our FCS representatives and concern themselves with dominating that level of play for our citizens. They will find more success for themselves that way anyways.

They are however examples of members of the Sun Belt which Jacksonville State would happily join.

Why did you put loss in quotations? I was at that game and your team did indeed lose. How about JSU fans quit being salty and just accept that their upside is very low and FCS is where they need to be for the time being.

Their merits or lack thereof aren't relevant. They would be Alabama team #3 in the Sun Belt and the sixth FBS in Alabama and they sit closer to GaSt than anyone.
In the current circumstances they can't get the votes needed. No point trying to fortune tell what they could do if they got the votes when they can't get them without some dramatic change.
Jax is fine. But the SBC has Troy and USA. Even if we were to lose one of those we would still have a presence in Alabama. So its hard to see how Jax makes the move even in that situation unless no other FCS in the footprint had any interest at all.

Because their moral victory overshadows their literal loss in their own eyes

Auburn played the last two minutes of the game. The other 58 minutes were spent thinking about barbecues later in the day and women. They gave you their F- Game, you gave them your A+++ game and still lost. There is absolutely nothing to compare.

Moral victories suck. I'm still ticked about the GT game.
