RE: Georgia Southern.
Southern basically got beaten and didn't show the fight I'd expect when they were down in the second half.
After that opening drive, Southern wasn't able to keep their defense off the field because of their inability to sustain any type of drive. Southern shot itself in the foot with penalties and App capitalize (like a good team should).
The Sun Belt championship is not decided by this game and there are still many games to be played. Always remember injuries and weather are unpredictable. Congrats on becoming bowl eligible!
Appalachian State ....... see you next year in Statesboro! Payback is a b****

RE: Georgia Southern.
I m not saying we will beat App and this thread isn't about us Congrats App State but I will say I hope everyone writes us off because we are just bad enough to upset someone taking us lightly. An App State win tonight means the SBC is still wide open as pointed out if GS had won it would pretty much assure them at least a share of the title an App win means they have to continue to win tough games a victory over Astate and a loss to the Cajuns could mean a four way tie for the title(now I seriously doubt that but it could happen). Congrats to App State and A State two big wins this year and you both get to settle it on the field as to who is the best in the conference this year. Last thing with the addition of App State and GS I like that no one team has a strangle hold on the conference now if some of the not so successful teams get it together this could be a pretty good conference.

Congrats to App St! Your team played the most complete game I have seen any team in the Belt play this year and it serves notice to the rest of the Belt that the App D is for real!

Well to be fair...App probably is going to crush everybody the rest of the way. We're the best chance left at someone knocking them off, and there are a lot of uncontrollable factors about a road game in Boone that we'll need to be playing in our favor for that one.
The only thing A-State needs to do is find a qb that can play, period, that is it.
If that happens AppSt will not beat them, any where or any place, because they simply have more speed, talent and depth than AppSt.
Horrible play by their qb's is the only reason any SBC team has had a chance a chance against them. If that goes away, so do the chances they lose to any SBC team.
Isn't it kind of late to be looking for a quarterback?
IMO yes, but that is where they are at at this time.
I think most of their fans have also given up on finding one this year, and hope thy can next year because they are going to be outstanding everywhere else.
I look for them to continue to shift the focus away from their passing game, and focus on running the ball like they have thus far in SBC games (will definitely try and do that against GaSt, to keep the ball away from their offense as much as possible).
Despite his short comings in his passing game, their starting qb can flat out get er done in that area.
Both teams having only 5 days to recover works to their favor big-time. Fatigue, especially on defense, will probably be big factor, and they play 3-deep up front.
Yes AppSt is the better team, but look for them to try and offset that with their better speed, and depth.

so you wouldn't call app a quality win?
I didn't say that. App is a great team. Maybe the best in the Sun Belt on any given day, and I've been saying that since before the season started. But GaSo claiming that they're these massive, unstoppable behemoths is just another excuse to explain why GaSo didn't win.
They have a tough game against ULL, which they could lose, and another tough game against stAte which they could lose. Any App fan that feels comfortable right now is doing themselves a disservice. But if they win those games, they absolutely earned the conference championship.
Can't please everyone I spose

FWIW this is how Phil Steele ranks App and StAte at each position within the conference
QB: App 3 StAte 5
RB: App 2 StAte 5
WR: App 4 StAte 1
DL: App 2 StAte 2
LB: App 3 StAte 9
DB: App 2 StAte 2
I've watched both teams this year and don't see the talent gap you keep speaking of, either.

Great game last night, it showed the talent level and depth App has at every position. If App plays like that each week they are going to be tough to beat.
The Oline and Dline may be the best in the conference, just nasty gritty players.

Great game and see you next year and can't wait to see you guys end the year 2nd and winning a bowl.

How awkward would it have been for us to receive some goofy all sports rivalry trophy on a night like this.....

Georgia Southern you're welcome for us taking the Sun Belt "top dog" target off of your back. You guys are one heck of a program and probably win-out going forward. Our rivalry continues just as strong as always. I commend any Georgia Southern fans that can bare to even peruse this site over the next week or so because I know when App loses, especially to you guys, that I have to go into hiding for a few days until the pain goes away. App State is now officially enemy #1 in the Belt. We've got a heck of a lot of work to do finish out this season the way we want and Thursday night was just one step down that long road.

Great win crAppy! We looked flat and App looked like App. The only positive going forward is that you will now enjoy becoming arrogant, insufferable, and in general the worst fan base in the history of all histories.

Congrats, App. I've spoken to several fans after the loss, and the one good thing that came from our first SB loss, was losing to y'all; seems fitting with our history. Your defense is the real deal, as you know. Honestly, even if y'all and stAte drop one, and we win out, I still have a hard time calling us co-champs. As Monken would say "y'all whipped our fannies," the better team won last night. Good luck the rest of the way. See you in the Boro next year!

That is because AppSt is playing better, and I don't think their is a huge gap in the 2-deeps the top 3-4 SBC teams can put together.
Think A-State hopes comes down to their 3-deep in some positions.
AppSt may have the better 1-deep,or even 2-deep, don't know, and don't care. I got paid to help determine who had the best overall roster of talent ( and I did not provide the rankings), and i limit my predictions to that.
I defer to the many credible sources as to who has the best team, and because i never really watch the teams play, i know many posters here are far more credible than me on that subject.
Time for me to focus on fishing anyway, and I only hung around this long so the ULL fan's would not accuse me of hiding had they won this yea.
Look forward to visiting this summer as everyone here creates the imaginary 2016 season for their respective teams.

Didn't watch the teams but has data to make claims one roster is better then also states one team may have better talent on two deep yet still claims the other team is better?
You have wasted everyone's time and perhaps someone's money with that type of analysis.

App just flat out beat us. We didn't play our best game, but outside of our passing game we didn't play a bad game either. The better team simply won. We graduate some good talent on defense in the offseason, but it's looking like we'll be strong again in 2016. We'll be ready to punch you in the mouth when you come to the Boro.

I'm curious as to what you do that you're an authority on who has the best talent all the way down to the second and third string yet you apparently do not need to watch any of the games (yet apparently know StAte wouldn't lose a game if they just had a QB). Doesn't sound like a pro scout or any kind of beat writer or blogger or journalist.
