Defense played to win. Offense was offensive. Not a single quality drive tonight and WAY too many turnovers. Lots to correct or we could be in for a long season.

All summer I've been concerned about replacing 4 starting Oline and 6 on the two deep to which some GS fans claimed that shouldn't be a problem. They better get better quickly.

I thought the defense was outstanding. Although the corners got beat on a lot of bombs, they would at least tackle them to prevent the TD and hold them to 3. After soooooo many 3 and outs by the GS offense, there was no way the D could continue to stop them.

I don't really have a problem with the play calling as Upshaw is not an option QB so the only choice was to run up the gut and hope we could wear them down. He is way too easy to tackle and not elusive enough to run the option. Reminds me of Youyoute a few years ago against Citadel.

Georgia Southern or Georgia State? But seriously I expected you to at least score

First game of the season, with some new faces on the line, and against a very good opponent.

Not the way you wanted it to go, but it's only the first game of the season, and showed PRECISELY what you needed to work on. So it sucks, but it's not the end.

Learn from this game and play lights out the rest of the season (but strangely forget it all come October 29)

Hard to do anything with the penetration the defense had. We got zero push all game and they disrupted all phases of our run game. Hell, most of the time there was no deep safety and they were within 5 yards of the LoS. Oh yea their secondary could play on islands too. We lived and died with our OL play.

If I'm an SBC Defensive Coordinator, I am instructing my guys to hit Ellison hard and see if you can knock him out.
