You're right, I don't think it's a big deal at all to win one or 2 less games in a no apples to apples schedule or standings number one.

#2 I've witness us get 100 times more national attention and respect for beating highly ranked teams like West Virginia, Miami and Virginia Tech multiple times than we ever sniffed for winning our championships. I've had all kinds of fans comment on those games. Never once heard them say oh you won a CUSA championship.

You think anyone even knew you won a freaking FCS championship or cared before you beat Michigan? Especially when you were still losing to 3-9 NC State teams while winning one of them. Just made it look like a joke if you don't base it with marquee especially P5 wins.

Give me the consistent winning and marquee wins anyday over the same number of wins all vs G5's and a championship zero people really care about at the end of the day. Several bowls we play the better higher ranked match up anyway than the champ. It gets you nothing.

If you prefer to go 8-4 with a good win or maybe 2 to go along with a few bad loses then so be it. Just dont fool yourself to think that anyone outside of NC remembers your wins over UNC or NCSU. I'd like to beat them both as well, but it doesnt get you that much national exposure.

Personally I'd prefer to play 1P5 school (2 some years), and 3 G5 schools with the thought of winning 11+ games and fighting for the G5 access bowl slot. A New Years Eve game against a P5 will get you a ton more exposure than beating NCSU or UNC. Again, I'm not saying dont play them, but playing 3 every year hasn't put you at the top of the G5 or gotten you into better bowls. It never will with the current CFP rules unless you can win your conference, but your team is gassed by mid-season every year.

I'm still optimistic about this upcoming season but not overly optimistic. We'll have a lot of exciting talent coming in this year but will be seriously lacking experience. We've got good returning WR's and RB's and should be a good OL (as long as no one gets hurt) so hopefully our RS Freshman QB can get them the ball and the offense
won't lack too much. The defense, well like I said more talent than prior years but they'll be young so a big fat question mark.

You guys coming off a bye week and us coming of NC State lines up well for you but we'll be at home.

Hope to see a lot of App fans in Norfolk but if you can't make it they just announced it will be televised on ASN.

Now back the pissing match already in progress.

Huh? We do pretty much play UNC every year with the latest contract just ending and the new one beginning soon. We play NCSU every 3 years for whatever reason. Home and home.

There is a 150+ page thread on the SEC board about ECU, so no, I didn't come to the Sun Belt board of all places seeking eyeballs for ECU.

For all this hype over strength of schedule that I keep seeing out of the ECU fans, I took a look at a random RPI site (realtimerpi.com) and according to that site, ECU's average opponent's preseason RPI is 92, while AppState's is 106... that's pretty close, right? ECU's SOS is a whopping 193... wow, way to step up! Sure, App plays Howard at 218, but ECU plays Towson at 215... that's a wash. But, the BEST team ECU plays this season is Cincinatti at 32... AppState plays Clemson at 18.

I think we could navigate your schedule just fine... we'd at least match the 8-4 this site predicts for you guys...
