RE: 10 Tribe Players in NFL
This AAF spring league starts up in February. Hopefully it takes off and gives another avenue for players other than Europe and Canada. There just arent many spots in the NFL.

I think he could make this team given the mess in the WR corps.

Not sure how many of you knew this, but Jerome Couplin is playing in the AAF for Orlando, and he got some action last night.

Bears declined to offer DHC a restricted free agent tender. He's a free agent.

BW...I still can see him intercepting that 4th quarter pass at UVA to cinch the game for the Tribe. He ran through the endzone with the ball and went straight to the W&M locker room with it, putting it, we found out later, in his locker!
He had dinner with us as part of Laycock's August dinner his senior year and regaled us with his football stories. 13 million! BW has come a long way.

Definitely can't have a better game to open a career! Not sure how to top that one but he sure managed to over the next four years.
(One minor correction though - he actually dropped the ball in the endzone and then ran up the tunnel without it but I like your version better.)

Nice! Steve Cluley is working out at this year's Spring League, which is working closely with the XFL.

That really sucks. Something like that would have been a great opportunity for so many FCS players who go overlooked.
XFL 2.0 anybody?

The league was terribly underfunded and had no space in the media.
It almost folded after the first couple of weeks as teams couldn't meet payrolls.
And, frankly, how much football can the public take?

The NFL needs a minor league. NBA G league is a good model.

AAF tried to set it up as such, but seems like the NFL doesnt want to prop it up. No idea why they wouldnt want a minor league system in any way, shape or form. XFL reboot starts next year and will have the same problems unless the NFL steps in.

RE: Tribe Players - Pro Football
Think of the expenses, costs, and such needed for football versus basketball. 53 salaries compared to 12. Equipment is a lot more, stadium space needed is a lot more, the insurance, staff, and such are a more. Then you have a fraction of the games to recoup revenue, because very little comes from media deals in the minor leagues. The NFL would have to see it as a way to be able to groom players and dump money to keep it viable.

RE: Tribe Players - Pro Football
If the NFL wants to invest more in player development, they'll just expand the practice squad. Besides, from the owner's perspective, the current system is working just fine.
The AAF's primary problem was the ability and willingness to lose a lot of money in Years 1-3. That won't be an issue for the XFL.
