Is CUSA going to allow us to miss 2016 season?

I really think we are aiming for 2016 but since there is so much to do to get ready to play, we may have to wait for 2017. It all depends upon getting our facility ducks and recruiting all lined up.

All we know:
-Bowling and rifle will be back like they were never gone.
-Football needs 76 scholarship players to be D-I FBS eligible
-Watts said in his press conference he is filing papers to keep us a full member of C-USA with FBS football returning... no date given.

I think he said they filed the papers Monday before the presser.

I don't think C-USA has made a decision on that. The next thing is to present the outline of a credible plan at the Dallas meetings this weekend. A credible plan with a credible time-frame. Details can be worked out as the situation unfolds.

Even though it's being billed as a "presidents meeting" I sorely hope that Watts will have sense enough to let Ingram make all the presentations.

Good God, what an incredible albatross Watts has become. A man whose job is primarily public relations, and he basically has to remain in seclusion. Just incredible that it's come to this.

I will be shocked if we are not playing in 2016.

Yes, but playing in C-USA? I mean, a full 8-game C-USA conference schedule?

No disrespect intended because I really like this league now but it's C-USA not the old Southwest Conference when SMU started back up.

UAB is also playing only one buy game. I see opportunity for some wins instead of disaster if Clark does what I think he can do. How long before we get to .500 remains to be seen but I know Clark has been putting together a plan for sometime now. ;-)

I tend to agree. I know we had some talent when Clark came, but we really didn't have a qb, and he brought in a lot of juco guys to plug holes. Our defense made significant strides. I feel like he can do this again pretty quickly.

Yea it will be MUCH faster than Marshall or SMU. In some respects it may mirror UTSA. Just wish we had their stadium. (Yes I want an OCS but I'll take the other right now just give us a recruiting tool)

Did anyone else hear Watts say something to the effect (or flat out) that we wouldn't be playing until the $13m was raised for facility upgrades? He was hemming and hawing so much under the scrutiny that I thought I heard him mention it, but haven't gone back to see if he did say it.

That was the big thing I got out of the presser, UAB is not paying a dime for anything. To field a team, outside sources pay for everything and it has to be done before we play a down.

He may think that but I'm betting we'll be given a timetable from the NCAA and/or CUSA to follow without much flexibility.
