If they were to walk Austin here it would become essential to have a fast runner in there.

Ballgame. Helluva season guys. I can't imagine that there's a better team in this field than LSU from what they just demonstrated.

Well, that was fun. Can't win if you don't score. Pitching was phenomenal, and it's really sad they got shut out for 18 innings.
Good season, tough draw. Pitch like that in any other regional, probably advance.

Yep. It's not like our hitters looked awful up there either. We had plenty of hard hit balls against LSU. But they made at least two tremendous plays in the 2 games that prevented runs. Tough to beat damn near perfect pitching and defense.

RE: UNCW LSU Part Deux
Makes me particularly sad given that UL-Lafayette is up 4-2 in the 6th. If they hold on and win that one, it's a "what could have been" situation where we would have hosted the Super Regional.

Nevertheless, for the 4th time in program history (and 2nd time in Baton Rouge) we were one of the final 32 left in the field, and we did it with style. We should take pride in that.

Absolutely. A great senior class and it was a pleasure to have met their parents while tailgating.

RE: UNCW LSU Part Deux
Hey guys. I had a busy day at work today and just now checking in. Read through all your in game comments.

Is it just me, or did Casey Golden disappear offensively in the Regionals this year?!

Great season by EVERYONE though, and really, we need to give it up for our pitching staff. The starters struggled a lot this season but really came through when it mattered (CAAT and Regionals). LSU is a heck of a team, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they go on to be CWS champs. Hats off to them for the quality games they played.

Congrats to these guys for a great season! They played incredibly well this weekend facing rain delays and the uncertainty that comes with them as well as going the distance with the number one team in the nation TWICE

Tough draw against a great team. They should be proud of this season

RE: UNCW LSU Part Deux
I enjoyed the ride, think I watched more college baseball this weekend via the ESPN bases loaded channel than I have for an entire season. We represented well and were as good as almost any team in the tourney outside of the top three or four seeds, just got a super tough draw. I hope this will help with a leap up in recruiting and also fund raising to do some much need upgrades in facilities. Would be nice to be in the same position as the Texas Baptists

RE: UNCW LSU Part Deux
This Regional further cemented my belief that College Baseball is at it's toughest in the southeast. The Big 12/Texas/West Coast type schools always seem to struggle to win their Regionals. Just look at the UCLA and UC Santa Barbara Regionals. 5 of the 8 schools in those 2 locations were west coast, yet the Regionals were won by Virginia and Maryland, who now face each other in the Super Regionals. Meanwhile, in Houston, 3-seed UL Lafayette took down a Regional with Houston, Rice and Houston Baptist. TCU and Texas A&M barely made it out of their Regionals as well, with NC State forcing that 2nd title game with TCU in Fort Worth.

RE: UNCW LSU Part Deux
The Rangers just called up 3B Joey Gallo, the best power hitter in minor league baseball. In 2012 he originally had signed on to play with LSU. He was "only" drafted 39th, meaning there was a very real possibility he could have gone to school, and ended up a Junior on the very LSU team we played this past weekend. Could you imagine how insanely dominant the Tigers would have been had that happened?
