LOL, keeping the teams in town is the worst idea of building the stadiums. We (Philly fans) have suffered long before these stadiums were built and long after, with the exception the Phillies in 2008.

Even that team I couldn't enjoy because they decided on no discipline for wife-beater Brett Myers. As a Philadelphia fan I wish they would have just let them go somewhere. I know several Cleveland fans that felt thew same way when the Browns slithered away in the heat of the night to Baltimore.

It's an NFL crazed town, as you and I know there is nothing more ignorant in the universe than an NFL fan & particularly an Eagles fan.

If by ignorant, you mean by and large the most passionate fans in sports, yes.

Eagle fans booed Santa Claus!
Eagle fans feel as if they have a reputation to live down to and they take this calling very seriously. Nothing is outside the realm of depravity when it comes to terrorizing whole families who have done *nothing* but wear their colors to the Vet/Linc. It is a sad & pathetic sight to see...

In my last couple of Eagle tailgates I would have to say that times have changed in Philadelphia. Yes Eagle fans are passionate but have become more civil than you lead others on. They don't have the problems they use to have since they put a judge and court right at the stadium. The real vulgar bums were weeded out by being prosecuted right at the stadium on game day and taken off to jail or fined on the spot. Also fans have to sign a code of conduct when they buy their tickets and purchase the licensing fees for their season tickets. Get out of hand and the seats and licenses are revoked for the purchaser and anyone they might give or sell them to. Modern day cameras and security personal are there to enforce civil disobedience on the spot. In days gone by I would hear four letter obscenities and sometimes threats from obnoxious drunks in front of my kids and other family members who are Eagle fans while tailgating in my Cowboy cooking apron with Cowboy shirts on, and using Cowboy plates and utensils. Now days the crowds have become more civil at the games. The Eagle fans are still passionate but more friendly as the game time security weeded out the obnoxious drunks. It is basically a totally different atmosphere where you can feel safe as a visiting team and take a friendly ribbing. Of course where there is free flowing booze their will always be a few obnoxious drunks but not like there use to be in days gone by as they are dealt with on the spot. I find similar atmospheres at Giants / Jets Stadium and in Baltimore at Ravens games too, and at baseball parks I have taken my family to in the Northeast and Midwest as far out as Minnesota.

You know nothing about Eagle fans do you? Fans have had to endure years of frustration of being good enough to win but come up short each time when it counted. Then hearing the trash talking from the opposing "darling/innocent" fans doesn't go over well. As Mutombo would say, "Not in my House".

But seriously, why would you expect to come to an opposing stadium wearing an opposing uniform and expect the red carpet to be rolled out?

ALL sports cities can say that they have passionate fans but less then a handful of cities have seen incidents that end in death or serious injuries like the Dodger fans pursued against the Giant fan visiting their stadium. How about the melt down of Cleveland Indian fans on 10 cent beer night? That riot was fun wasn't it, with fans throwing food and other items onto the field? Maybe the Ron Artest brawl was more recent memory for you. I guess the Piston fan throwing food at Artest was justified because it wasn't a Philadelphia fan.

Finally back to the NFL. Take a look at the link below.

Quote:At MetLife Stadium, security chief Daniel DeLorenzi said about 25 fans are kicked out of the stadium at each Jets and Giants game

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82...-to-return

I'd say New York fans seem to be just as rowdy/passionate as Philadelphia fans.
You are all complete idiots. You cheer for guys from Florida, Texas, California, Louisiana ect. NFL players *hate*, absolutely HATE the fanbases. The players just want to make their money and go home! As soon as they are able to leave and go home they clean out their lockers and head out of town. The only ones who stay are the poor idiots who choose to make commercials/appearances for the local fools. They remind me of performing organ grinder chimps.

I'm trying to figure out your point but it went completely over my 6'6" head. You started by saying Philly fans are bad for their extreme passion then introduce players hating fan bases. What's one have to do with the other?
I just think that if your average NFL fan knew how much contempt the players felt for them they may think twice about investing so much passion.

agreed 100%. I of course strongly dislike the NFL. The only thing worse is NFL fans. I feel badly for college football fans in NFL cities like Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Dallas Houston, New Orleans, Houston, Philadelphia and New Orleans. You LL always be overshadowed by the moneygrubbing tax payer stealing NFL franchises and their college football hating fans.

I don't know it is now, but I remember a story around 10 years ago or so about how Eagles fan verbally tortured these 49ers fan (a boy and his dad) whom visited from far away to watch their team. How could any fan taunt a kid for liking his team and wearing a jersey?

Dodgers fans beat a Giants fan into a coma. A Penguins fan murdered his wife and burned his house down because she was upset he was watching the game instead of finding a job. A 49ers fan paralyzed a fan in the stadium bathroom because he told the guy the stall was free. A Yankees fan was nearly beaten to death at an Orioles game.

You can Google all you want. Things happen everywhere, not just in Philly.

Philly has had a judge in the stadium since back at the Vet. Nothing new there...I believe they were the first to do it.

Also, there are crap fans everywhere perpetuating that fact that stupid and booze mix to create a level of idiot that would set a troglodyte back a few brain cells. Having said that, Philly is the only place I have been where it is a badge of honor to demand and act on a belief that anyone wearing an opposing teams jersey or other clothing should be heckled and jeered and expect to have a terrible experience if they choose to attend any sporting event with Philly's finest residents. One of their bigger (both successful in ratings and in being a raging idiot often devoid of the capacity for cognitive mental reasoning or though...you ignorant moron Missanelli) sports radio guys eggs fans on to go after any fan who shows up to games in an opponents jersey.
And don't forget the homeless disabled vet who had his prosthetic leg stolen by some woman during an Eagles game last season. Keeping it classy, one day at a time.

Your only other options are to try and negotiate a lease at Franklin Field on Penn's Campus or try to work a deal with the Union and Delaware County for access to the soccer stadium in Chester.

As a Pennsylvania tax payer, I'm still p!ssed that we paid for the stadium(s) and the Eagles control The LINC. When do tax payers have a say in anything we put our money into?

Every 2 years.

Really? You wear opposing uniforms in Philly and expect not to be heckled? Do those words hurt you? Are you that thin skinned? If so don't go to Philly wearing a Cowboys uniform? Common sense says that. As Mutombo would say "Not in my house".

That said, try wearing a Philly uniform at the Giants home stadium. Or even a Cowboys uni at the Meadowlands.

Unless you are that naive, don't put yourself in potentially dangerous situations intentionally. We all learn of neighborhoods to avoid, especially at night. Why put yourself in bad situations intentionally? Same thing can be said in sports venues.

Wow. I've never felt like I was in a "dangerous situation" at a sporting event. Sounds like the Philly fans have earned their reputation.

Reading in "context" is not your area of experience is it? Left out the word "potential" didn't you? Let me help you out. The "context" of the "Potentially" dangerous situation was of "avoiding bad neighborhoods". The "context" was beyond the sports arena example(s).

Here is an example of putting yourself in a dangerous situation that happened in real life. In the news the other day a woman was caught staggering across the super highway. She didn't get hit but the "Potential" was there.

Back to sports arena discussion. The Giants fan that was beat up by two Dodger fans into a coma didn't think he was in a "potentially" danger situation. It happens. Select few cause unwarranted violence in many areas of life.

Trash talking (wearing opposing teams unis may be considered trash talking by some) by fans to opposing fans is not violence. It may not be appreciated, I understand that. The moral is don't agitate home fans. It's their house. Be respectful. Root for your team, enjoy the game but don't agitate.

OK. I think I get what you're saying now. Going to a game in Philly is a potentially dangerous situation if you're wearing another team's jersey?

Or are you just saying it's not a good idea to do that if you don't want to be called names?

The way you worded that was awkward.

I like the Temple fans on this board, and realize that every city and fan base has its good and bad apples. But I have literally never heard anything good about Philadelphia fans as a whole. That reputation didn't just come out of nowhere. There are lots of good Kentucky and Alabama fans, but that doesn't change the fact that their fan bases on the whole have more problems than most. I haven't heard much about Philly fans heckling visiting fans, but I hear all the time about how quickly they turn on their teams and players.

You can ask my friend Todd, who went to UC if he had any issues when he was in Philly.
