The thing that stands out most is his demeanor. Make a catch or tackle and get back to work. No need to showboat.

I agree, there is no need to showboat. All players should take a lesson in sportsman like conduct from Jon Grimes. The extent of showboating in the NFL is outrageous and IMHO it takes away from the game.

RE: 2016 Football Recruits
Showboating in college football could end overnight if refs were allowed to call 15 yard penalties every time a play gave the big first down extended arm, strutted or took those ridiculous arms at the sides giant steps after a big tackle or qb sack, antics after knocking down a pass, the chest bumps, holding the ball high in the air with one arm running free to the goal line, etc. They add nothing to the game but make players look like buffoons.

Many years ago W&M played Pittsburgh when they had Tony Dorsett. This, of course, is back when the constant player antics didn't go on. Dorsett, who was one of the first college hot dogs, started strutting in the end zone holding the ball up and waving it around; I cannot recall who it was, but one of our guys--from
about a ten yards away-- sprinted towards Dorsett, still preening, belted him up in the air. and sent him about five yards through the air and on to his rear end. Dorsett had to be helped off the field and didn't return to the game.

There were lots of irate boos, but us in the small W&M contingent stood and cheered and our guy was mobbed by his teammates as he left the field! And the Pitt fans around us actually told us they thought
Dorsett had deserved it.

Another quality player. This makes 2 scholarship WR's, and 2 preferred walk-ons in one class. If all show up in the fall that will give us 9 wr's plus 4 true freshman wr's). This year we only had 8 plus 2 true freshman to start the fall. This unit is young group with only 1 senior and 2 juniors, 4 sophomores and 2 red shirt freshman, 4 true freshman.

I guess they are looking down the road and would like more balance with experience in the future.

Its good to have a three year starter with a young group of receivers and after next year the new QB will have an experienced receiving corp to help him.

You will not get an argument from me regarding showboating, no place for it in the game. But, the spontaneous reaction to a big play of players excited naturally still needs to be part of the game. I don't want that to go away.

We were incoured more celebration penalties this past season than we have probably ever had. Maybe a celebration on the scale of half way between Jon and Kendall would be sufficient .

Joe Agee knocked Tony Dorsett out of the Pitt game.

RE: 2016 Football Recruits
Celebration after a big play, sack, etc. is just part of the game. Kids are excited and emotions are running high. No reason to taunt or flaunt though.

What I can't understand is celebration after a first down catch, pass break up, etc. I think for the most part they players are trying to copy the NFL celebrations, which are out of control and silly.

Screaming Joe must have been proud to see his kid knock Dorsett out. BTW, Dorsett was Anthony Dorsett (door sit). Once he was thinking about the Heisman Trophy it became (door SET). Same with Joe Theisman (these man) becoming Theisman as we know it which was rhyming with Heisman.

Pretty sure it was Scott Hays. Another Lafayette H.S. guy.

I don't think it's a given he will be a WR. Good DB prospect.

From his hudl video, I was kind of hoping he would be on the defensive side of the ball.

He was player of the year on defense. He was only 1st team as a WR. Apparently the voters saw him as more impressive at DB.

I'm thinking that the placekicker job requires no new applications for the next two years! And the young man behind Dorka, Kris Hooper, has shown some impressive range in practice...

Competition is never a bad thing. I like Dorka and what he has accomplished, but the player currently producing should always get the nod. If a newbie walkon wins out, so be it.
