That was a heck of a way to show you deserve to be tops in the league. Dominant win wire to wire, with only one brief period where JMU pulled within 3.
Great win, and couldn't be happier for the fellas and coaching staff.
I really enjoy Jordan Talley's game. Very smooth, great floor general, and it looks like he never gets rattled. I think he will be our starting PG for awhile. Plus he's ferocious on D.

Sorry guys, but you're going to have to live with the good and the bad with Ponder as the backup at point. If Pugh could remember his defensive assignment, he would be playing more. But he is having trouble picking up on scouting reports and understanding his place in defensive schemes. Hopefully it will click someday soon. Right now though, Talley is our only true point guard.

I think Malik will get there in time. You're right about taking the good and the bad with Ponder. Like 82 said, he's a great 2 guard. When he's hot, let him go, but watching him struggle like that with handling the ball against a mediocre at best JMU team is ummmmm frustrating. I think in that circumstance, we should at least give Malik a chance. Builds his experience and confidence.
However, I'm not the Coach, and boy do I love having Coach Keatts. A win is a win, and I'm glad he's leading this team to the "W's". We have more wins in conference play this year than we totaled last season. That counts for something. Also... regular season champs is a realistic goal. A REALISTIC GOAL.
Go Seahawks!

Yeah, we were probably being too critical of Ponder. He put up 18 points, which easily made up for his 3 turnovers.
Talley has been in foul trouble nearly every game and will simply need to get adjusted to D-I refs. I can't help but crack up every time I see his face after he gets called for a foul. It's the same "What did I do?" look every single time, lol. Love that kid.
During the game I tend to be a little more critical than I should, and I think about it a little more after the game. I get so into that feeling of watching a good lead crumble thanks to sloppy play that it turns me into a harsh critic.
Ponder had a relatively quiet 18 compared to Spruill's. All of a sudden, it was a, "Wow, Ponder is putting up points tonight" type game. I tried to give him good credit during the game for his shots as well.
I just think we have to be careful when we have a lead and protect it a little better by not having Ponder run the point for such significant periods of time.
I wasn't able to watch most of this game and it's really nice to catch the flow of it by reading through all these in-game posts. Thanks to all who posted during last night's game! Really huge bounce-back win for the Hawks--we are shocking the CAA!
