I saw a total of 24 quoted, but that counts some who count against the 2014 limit.

If that is so, we still have room for a few more - say 3 - 5.

He may be keeping those in his pocket for next year in order to spread out the classes. We don't have many seniors next year although we have now noticed we've lost two WRs so those scholies will be open. Without jumping up and down on a soapbox we seem to be returning to those days of roster chaos ie player turnover. Who knows maybe its a weeding out process? But when you see a highly rated recruit from last year who has already left the program it does raise questions.

'79, you are right on the small senior class. I didn't count more than a dozen players whom I assume are on scholarship and in their last year of eligibility.

Turner!

Have to wonder if Johnson has some academic issues. Or he could be a late signee.

Or he decommitted and no one reported it. Bizarre situation.

The offensive coordinator is mentioning maybe 1 or 2 more for the offensive line.

Looks like a solid class. I was never concerned about where the players came from, BUT I'll be interested to see if Creighton is criticized like English was for having so many players from out of state.

Our brand in revenue sports isn't as good as it should be.

Hence, we don't do as well as we should in-state. We see it in FB, and M&WBB. [Our brand in many Olympic sports is very good, e.g., T&F where we recruit internationally very well.]

Then we get kids on campus and they are sold, esp. in hoops, with a very nice arena, up-to-date with great amenities (e.g., practice courts, weights, treatment, (very) beautiful scoreboard, beautiful coaches' offices on site, atrium, parking, etc. etc.). [I'm mostly talking Convo here.]

In football, we are still running third in-state for G5 caliber athletes who wish to stay within state. We struggle head-to-head with WMU and CMU.

I just hope folks don't confuse what a coach MUST do vs. what he'd LIKE to do. Very different. I bet that CC would like to lock up a dozen good MI h.s. kids by 9/1 if he could (he can't), so he goes back to states where he's had success or where his assistant coaches have had recruiting success.

Girodat from Jackson Lumen Christi could get some early PT as well. TE will be very green this year with the loss of Russell.

Does Tuttle play TE or WR? At 6'4, 230 ish TE?

He was recruited as a TE (H-Back)

Looking at the directory, I only see two people named Tuttle currently listed. One if James Tuttle and the other Mitchell Tuttle. Seems very odd, he should be listed if he is taking classes here...

RE: Football Signing Day (a day early)
Just a note on recruiting, lots of factors ie academic reputation of school and programs offered, football facilities ie weight room etc., coaching staff, tradition ie reputation ie winning program, student/community/alumni support all equal the overall recruiting profile for a school. I'm glad for example that the indoor facility was built it was a handicap not having one. As someone once said input equals output.

Regardless of what the recruiting rankings say I think CC and his staff overachieved with this class when you consider all of these factors.

Coach Creighton and staff mentioned his name several times during the signing day conference.

Exactly, one shouldn't say, "Why don't we recruit Michigan?"

Well, I guess, 34 offers IS recruiting MI.

I thought we were going to 'break through' in MI under English. We started too but it went down hill as things turned down.

This will take time... Coaches do what they have to do and go looking wherever recruits will listen to their pitch.

(Murphy got around this in-state problem early on by recruiting transfers, some of whom he knew from his previous stint at Syracuse. He coached Riley. Might have tried to recruit GBIII for 'Cuse when Bryant was at Oak Hill in Va., Etc. and inviting them to come back home. Talley told me he wanted to come back home).

But in fairness Murphy offers plenty of either former Michigan high school players in the JUCOs (Bonan) or high school players. It isn't for lack of trying to sign Michigan players.

He doesn't arrive until summer session. Making up a class.

That's what I was beginning to figure. Thanks for the info.
