How in the hell?
Spruill should get to ride the bus back to UNCW by himself and make everyone else walk.

Free Throws 19-20 in the second half...from THIS team...and they needed EVERY ONE of them!

Congrats guys. That was a heck of a 2nd half your guys put together. Looking forward to the rematch in Trask. Thornton is everything he was billed to be, an absolute beast.
Well done Tribe. Well done.

2nd half keys to victory.
1) UNC-W not shooting 70% in the second half - CHECK!
2) Spruill remembering he is Spruill and not Lebron - NOPE!
3) Marcus shooting the ball more than three times in the 2nd half - CHECK!
2 out of 3 ain't bad!!! What a game...Tarpey a beast with his usual almost Double Double.
They could've at least covered the spread

Well done Tribe!
Let's be honest ... it's good to see that UNCW may be on the way back...very important for the CAA.
My recollection is that W&M and UNCW have played a few barn burners over the years at Kaplan.
Finally, love Tribe TV!

Honestly, I checked out at halftime.
What a great comeback! Congrats. Only two games that surprised me more in memory were Rutgers last year and the OT Delaware game back in 2009.
The Hawks shot 57% for the game. Not sure we ever won a game with an opponent shooting like that.
Agree with NJ - really like seeing UNCW back in the pack. Class program and always great fans.

Team showed incredible heart and the talent to go with it. Great to see Omar have a great second half to go with Terry and the great Marcus Thornton. And great second half support from everyone else!
One of the great W&M comebacks ever...as much as 24 in the first half and 30 at halftime.
All you can say is WOW!

Wow, just so much heart. Someone said it at the half. The way we win that game is heart. Lots and lots of heart. That's got to be a great confidence booster after some tough close losses.

Wow. Wow. Wow. I was sure there was no way we came back. Shaver came out with a great halftime adjustment and lit a bonfire under the ass of every player on that team. I think his benching of Omar early in the second half after a couple of bonehead mistakes was critical. Once he got back in, Omar played like the old Omar.

I really think this team's success hinges on Omar. When he plays well, we play well. Right now we are built around Marcus, Tarpey, and Dixon. If Omar can find the spark consistently, and not get lost on defense, we can be very good the rest of the way. Tonight was a good start.

RE: Wilmington of NC
2nd half keys from my seats:
We ran our offense with pace. UNC-W did not play good help defense, and we adjusted in the second half by driving when their players were aggressive outside 15 feet. They have some jumpers, but not really any shot blockers, and once we stopped being afraid of blocked shots we had an offense. Our defensive intensity was the big thing, though. Not a big crowd, but for about the last 14 minutes the crowd was into every defensive possession. Wilmington wanted to get a rebound and be down the floor with a shot off within 8-10 seconds. Once we got them into a half-court offense (partly by scoring more), we could shut them down. They made shots I would think they usually don't in the first half, or we'd have been a lot closer.
Not enough can be said about our bench today. Tot gave us great minutes, and was very aggressive defensively. Malinowski gave us his usual solid minutes. Whitman came in and gave us offense that we weren't getting from Sheldon (not a knock on Sheldon, but shots weren't falling for him tonight). None of them looked like freshmen, which was important with how aggressive UNC-W was on the ball.
Also bears mention that we went dunk-dunk-layup on three consecutive offensive trips. Although it was in the first half, that was a big part of setting the tone that we knew how to beat them defensively, and the game bore it out.

Heart. Miles and miles of heart.
Nailed that one, Rocco.
Agree, too, with Mrs. Got Ribe about Tot.
Credit UNCW with shooting lights out in the first half. We were outrebounded in the first half, but you can't rebound a made shot.
Loved watching the team get more physical in the 2nd half, and seeing Omar back in form.
Shame about winter break; wish our students could have been a part of this one.

Comment of the night.
I only ever turned off one Tribe basketball broadcast out of frustration: 2010 at Delaware, with roughly 30 seconds left in overtime. We know how that one turned out.
Glad I kept watching tonight. I was going absolutely nuts during the second half--surprised my neighbors didn't call the cops. Let's go get Towson!

RE: Wilmington of NC
Coach Keatts has done a nice job with players that under-performed for Buzz. They really have some springy players that constantly interrupted our passing lanes, especially in the first half. Talley is going to be a nice player down there.
It was really a story of determination, staying with the plan and making up the ground steadily that turned around what looked for all the world like an embarrassing loss. Winning the boards battle in the second half by 11 didn't hurt and the 19-20 effort (and the one miss by Tarpey went in and came out...) from the Foul Line was crucial.
Great crowd backing in the second half. For you newer folks, that's how it sounded quite often, back in the 80's. Let's hope the crowds return.
Fun game. Congrats, guys.

Young team learns alot more from a game like this than winning by 20+: have to come out and play with some urgency or you'll get your clocked cleaned, confidence that they can come from way back, as well as, hit critical free throws down the stretch. Team effort, and very well done guys!!
Most vocal crowd per capita that the Hall has seen in quite a while...Made a difference.
Best comeback at Kaplan since the comeback win from 18 down in second half against VA Tech in the late 70's, when there was no 3 pointer.
Despite UNCW's well played 1st half, had to be a very demoralizing loss for them. Hope they can get it turned around for their game at Hofstra this weekend. Need to have them put together two halves like that against Hofstra. Hats off to Keatts, has them playing with a lot of confidence.
