I'm sure this wouldn't happen, but was just curious.

Conference champ has to be accommodated first. Could be any of the bowls.

so the CC basically gets to pick where it goes?

I think one of the 3 SBC bowls has to invite the conference champion. The 3 or 4 now SBC bowIs has to invite the champion before invitations can be extended to other SBC Schools. The Conference champion is guaranteed a SBC bowl game. I don't think you get to chose who invites you.

It use to be that the New Orleans bowl had the first pick. I'm not sure how it is now but I'm pretty sure without a doubt that you don't get to chose which SBC bowl you want to invite you.

I think I know what you are trying to say but might have misspoken. The champion must be accommodated, does not have to be a SBC bowl. The conference could negotiate the champion to another bowl in order to get extra teams in. The New Orleans bowl originally had first pick and had to take the champion 2 out of every 4 years but that rule is no longer in place.

Hopefully my post #18 in this thread clears everything up.

RE: Question for UL fans
I have to agree with most Cajun fans, unless we are going to a bigger bowl which would make the conference some money or to a bowl in Houston, I'll go to New Orleans every year. The conveniences you get everything is with in walking distance and its in a dome you can't beat that and then throw in the New Orleans parties I'm sold.

I think the first choice now rotates between the bowls. This year was the New Orleans Bowl's choice and they chose the Cajuns. If Georgia Southern had been eligible this year for bowl games, the NO Bowl would still have chosen the Cajuns leaving one of the other two bowls having to invite Georgia Southern. My guess is there would have been a negotiation involving the conference to make the best determination for team placement. I'm not sure which bowl has next years choice.

I pretty much think the bowls and conference try to do what's best financially for the teams, the bowls and the conference. Now that we have multiple bowls, to paint yourself in a corner with your own rules just isn't smart.

If you remove "teams and conferences" you are spot on. Bowls just want the $. Nothing else matters.

Krazy Karla's pocket matters too, the more money the schools can make... In turn the more money the conference and the bowls make, it's all tied together.
