RE: Gov. Bentley to "look into" UAB situation
Bentley is the chairman of the Board of Trustees and he does not sound like he is for axing UAB's football program. I have thought that UAB football was as good as gone...but this sounds hopeful.

RE: Gov. Bentley to "look into" UAB situation
I tend to think that Bentley's statement about being chairman is more of a message and warning to PBJr.

Seems like Bentley may be the last hope?

But I know better than to hold my breath with him.
I'm still trying to parse this statement, however:
"But that is a decision that the Board of Trustees makes, and I am the chairman of the Board of Trustees and I always want people to remember that," the governor said.
Not sure what message he's trying to send: that (a) he's chairman and is ultimately the one who wields the most power or that (b) he's chairman and is actually a non-voting member with little influence.
He may have little influence, the real "power" is with the president pro-tem, but he does have a vote (as does Tommy Bice, State Superintendent of Education). While they hardly ever show up and vote, they could if they wanted to.
Bentley is in on it, part of the problem not part of the solution as far as I know. The last board meeting I'm aware of Bentley attending was the one where the BoT were supposed to be meeting to discuss the nomination process for a new chancellor and Bryant et all surprised half of the board by suggesting that the president of Alabama be named Chancellor of the UA system immediately. As both Witt and Bentley happened to be at the meeting, why they went ahead and had Bentley swear him in, very convenient.

Witt then quickly moved to fire our president and hire presidents at UA, UAH, and UAB that were beholden to him, just as he is beholden to Bryant.
That was step one in the multistep process that's goal appears to be to roll the undergrad side of UAB back to the 70's.

Might well be, but I'm encouraged by his comments. He seems more complimentary about our football program than our own president...

RE: Gov. Bentley to "look into" UAB situation
I agree, any positive comments that the governor gives can only help our cause right now. Bently's comments were a lot better this time than when he mentioned our previous low attendance, financials and on the field results. The headline: "Governor supports UAB football and is looking into it" is much better than premature articles titled: "AD fired and UAB Football is done". Hopefully this will give the media something positive to pick up and run with and they continue to follow up with him. I also hope that this encourages our players, coach Clark and those fighting every day for our program.
Now I'm not saying that this isn't a false flag, but this is still promising, and we need to keep pushing!

Gov. Bentley to "look into" UAB situation
PBJ is officially done soon due to his age. Maybe Bentley knows there is no escaping their lies now that McGee's messages came out. Bentley may have to save UAB football legally now.

He knows McGee's comments are damning.

We can only hope that the hammer is now about to fall squarely on the BOT rather than UAB's football program.

He's nothing more than a politician - playing in the winds to see which way they end up so that he ends up on the right side. Bentley & the BOT will end up saying it wasn't our decision, it was the UAB President's decision to do it & we had no part in it.

If McGee's comments did not go public saying he was told not to say anything, no chance football survives. McGee's messages just changed everything.

About as firm and positive comments from the Governor as you could possibly ask for. Color me shocked.
Regarding McGee's comments, I would be willing to bet that Bentley couldn't pick him out of line up, much less that during his daily business he was keeping himself abreast of that situation.
On a lighter note, you really begin to recognize the importance of football in this state when the *Governor* is making public comments about a college football program. Can you imagine any other state where the governor is involved in a situation like this one? It is truly stranger than fiction.
