RE: 2015 Tribe Football
Parents weekend and home opener on the same day will be good for a solid crowd as well.

As a whole I think this schedule will get good crowds. Every game but UNH I can see drawing well. Even then, if UNH wins the title or is ran,ed top 5 next year people might come out

As we saw this year I think start time will matter a lot more than opponent

RE: 2015 Tribe Football
At first glance, you have to wonder why we don't play URI, UA, or Maine.

I'd much rather have the off week after UVA as we tend to accrue injuries during FBS games.

It's good that two of our away games are against "weaker" opponents. BTW, the Lafayette game, regardless of 5 or 7 hrs drive, is worth the trip. Pretty campus, nice stadium, friendly fans, and great tailgate lot.

It's also good to have JMU and UNH at home. Why do I have a feeling it's going to come down to UR again?

Oh definitely. Love the area (Though parts of Easton, while on the rise, are a bit sketchy at night). I was just letting people know that if they want to go to that game, don't do it as a day trip.

Too bad. Nothing against Maine but getting there and getting back is a real bi+ch.

It would be nice if they played their games, or some, in Portland. Much easier to get to and would think they could pull in a decent crowd there being the largest city in the State - also a very cool place to spend a weekend.

That kind of thing worked out real well for UMass....

RE: 2015 Tribe Football
No, not at all unless they were playing Maine or UNH.

UMass is a bit different. They moved all their games into a crowded, professional sports market with a BCS team already owning whatever college market existed. To boot, they were filling the games with MAC teams.

I do think Maine has played a game or two on some years in Portland. I don't think the crowd size would suffer. It would probably exceed Orono.

Arkansas would be a better example of this as they play a couple games in Little Rock each year considering the University is tucked away in the NW part of the State, almost 4 hours from Little Rock.

Arkansas lost a lot of attendance (at least each of the last 3 years) when playing in Little Rock. Have to assume costs increase too having to play that far from campus.

My brother is a sophomore at Arkansas and he hates the games in Little Rock. There's no way to quicker alienate the student body than putting the games that far off campus

I don't think this was ever about money - for one, the stadium in LR has only always seated 50,000 or so while the campus stadium size has doubled in the last 20 years.

This was more about exposure to the States population center and capital, which is near 4 hours from Fayetteville, and home to the largest group of alumni.

As you show, it's only a game or two per year.

Similar to what Tech used to do in Virginia back when a 20,000 seat stadium (Richmond and Norfolk) was not much different than playing at Lane Stadium. That's why they played at least one game at one or both every year up until the mid 80s. Blacksburg, like Fayetteville, is a hike from the States population base.

If Norfolk had a stadium seating 50,000+, Tech would probably find a home game there on occasion I bet today.

As far as the students concern, no sympathy in this case. These schools all have 7 of 11 home games a year - having one or two of those home games where people and alums actually live isn't a bad situation. A lot of these students probably come from Little Rock or around there anyway.

For a state school to play football games in their State Capital makes a lot of sense - that's where all the politicians hang out. Time was, the annual W&M vs Richmond game was Always played in Richmond, and on Thanksgiving Day!

Tech also played games in Roanoke and the annual Thanksgiving game with VMI was played there and this was as big if not bigger rivalry game than W&M vs. UR . City of Richmond held The Tobacco Bowl each season and all of what was known as The Big 5 ( W&M VMI VPI U.Va and UR) would be scheduled to appear.
Look at the history of Tribe football and how many game we played in Norfolk over the years.

Will be interesting to see who fills the spots vacated by McBride and Ballard on offense, and Reilly, Sinnott, Coleman, Tagoe and Green on defense.
OL, if the guys healed, should be a bright spot next year.

A competitive Spring on tap. WR candidates will be Reeves, Heald, Hart, Kuzjak, Carlisle and Armstrong. Dedmon is a lock. Peyton Gryder is too at DE, and Isaiah Stephens steps in for Coleman next to Claytor. Chris Donald should be back at DT, with VJ Davey, Spencer Bopp, and Grey Congo all having some experience. Experienced DEs include Xavier Roscoe, Braxton Hicks, and Matt Ahola who was playing early in the year before injury. I'll be interested to see how Spencer Kleinrichert develops with possibility of him being a DE as well. Won't be surprised if a true frosh sees time on the DL. That's been a recurring theme for the past five years.

Right on. We missed Donald this year, it will be good to get him back in the rotation. Stephens played well, but I would expect him to be 15lbs lighter next year, but stronger and more explosive. Ahola showed well before the injury. Roscoe looks quick, but needs to bulk up some. Gryder looked solid. Congo & Davey will need to step in too. To me, the defense did not seem as "snarly" as last year.

Reeves and Hart have playing experience. I am looking forward to seeing Carlisle, with his size, if he can play, he will be a nice pairing with Dedmon.

My first football game ever was W&M vs UR on my birthday in 1961. My mom was a W&M alum and my dad was a TC Williams/UR alum. We lived withing walking distance of City Stadium at the time.
I had just started pee wee football and I was fascinated by the equipment, especially the chin straps.
It seems to me that City Stadium was packed.

I have no idea who won.

Your fascination with chin straps answers just a few questions I've had about you. Still doesn't explain why you clap only during timeouts.
