"Close one" is completely ambiguous. Depends on who you talk to. To Liberty, "close one" would be a FG or less. To JMU fans, the way we've been playing the last few weeks, 21 points could be classified as a "close one".

Just sayin'.

RE: 2014 FCS Playoffs - Game 1 Predictions: Liberty at James Madison
there are only 3 possible outcomes for this game:

1) JMU wins in a blowout
2) JMU wins a close one
3) Liberty wins a close one

my odds heavily favor 1 or 2.

Nice recap of the series history here:

http://www.libertyflamesnation.com/liber...s-history/

lol...we were ranked #3 when we played them in 2010...on the strength of the VT win, then plummeted like a stone.

Yeah, any margin 10 points or under would definitely be a close one in my book. Actually, anything under 14.

I dont understand what makes you so sure that it will be a blowout type of game and not a nip and tuck type afare (say 7-10 pts)

I don't understand what makes you think it will be even remotely close? I'm sure you'll outscore us 10-7 in the 4th quarter after we've shut it down for the day.

35-7 at the half. #BookIt

the same reason that the majority of people on your board are so sure you are going to win.

44.7 PPG over our last 7.

Against 3 ranked teams (including Albany who WAS ranked at the time)

Also includes 31 on Stony Brook that had the top defense in all FCS going into the game.

in that case, using that logic I should be saying that you guys wont score, CCU #1 team in country scoring over 40 and they put up 14. Your logic is skewed and dumb, but hey there are homers on both sides.
Your defense gives up on AVG more than we do, so again, i don't get it. But ok, if you want i guess i'll be your huckleberry

FYI..my prediction was just win dont care by how much or how

Let's just ignore strength of schedule, then. Coastal played no one until you guys came along.

No we don't have to...lol

By request, here are SOS rankings for the playoff teams. I used Massey's, but there may be others worth considering as well, in particular, Sagarin. I will have to try to get to those later. But for now, hopefully these can be useful in helping to understand on what kind of schedule these stats were achieved.

FCS SOS Ranking
Indiana St 1
Northern Iowa 2
S Dakota St 4
N Dakota St 7
Illinois St 10
Chattanooga 15
Liberty 16
Jacksonville St 17
Montana 21
Sam Houston St 23
E Washington 26
Richmond 30
James Madison 31
Montana St 33
Villanova 35
SF Austin 40
New Hampshire 41
E Kentucky 51
SE Louisiana 57
Coastal Car 58
Fordham 71
Sacred Heart 85
Morgan St 92
San Diego 114

Should we use the transitive property to predict the score based on our results against Richmond?
