Actually it makes it sound like they could have one loss just because of that missed extra point but the game would have gone to overtime and either team could have won it as well including UT.
True. What made it so tough to stomach is that Toledo only led ONCE in that game - in OT. The tied the game late in regulation - our D was really to blame for the loss. Needed a stop and couldn't get it. So it goes to OT. We won the toss and elected to play D. They scored and took their only lead. We scored and biffed on the XP.
Back up RB Swanson ran for about 180 yds and a 9.1 yds avg/att against the Broncos. Hunt would have run all over WMU. Considering Hunt was injured, the Broncos got a huge break. Btw, UT left alot of points off the board, actually had 2 TDs called back because of penalties and a bad QB/Center exchange at the WMU goal line resulting in a turnover. Rockets never trailed by more than 7 and was either tied or down by 3 for most of the game.
Wait a minute now. I thought I read somewhere that UT fans never use injuries as excuses. You won the game, but would have won bigger if ....
In any case, Toledo was heavily favored, the weather sucked and they were playing against a Bronco team in their MAC opener who had won only 3 games in their last 16 under PJ. That loss convinced the young Broncos that they were not that far away from being a good team. Kind of a shame that that 1 point is all that stands between NIU - WMU being for all the marbles in the west for both teams.
There was enough talent on the 2013 Bronco team to win at least 4 or 5 games. Cubit didn't leave the cupboard bare. You only have to look at the starters to see alot of Bill's guys. A loss is loss, 1 point or 3 points.

The defense I'm pretty sure is almost all Cubit guys. The secondary which is their best unit is definitely Cubit guys.
Is Davis a Fleck recruit or did he commit prior to that?

I believe Davis was a Cubit recruit(AJ Ricker-recruiter) that committed in Jan'13. Ricker was a hold over from Cubit's staff that stayed when Fleck was hired.

No, Cubit didn't leave the cupboard empty. We had a senior QB going in, who was a solid backup who started some games as a junior when our senior QB wasn't 100%. But that QB fell, and Terrell, our current QB was starting as a true frosh last year. His first pass in college football was a TD @MSU.
There was NO reason we should have been 1-11 last year. But we had Massive injuries, so going from 4-8 should have resulted in another 4-8 season with a new coach. But PJ was learning the ropes WHILE coaching for the first time, and I think that's the reason we went 1-11.
But he just Rowed the Boat, and let the chuckles & laughs roll over his shoulder.
In the end though, does it really matter when you're an 8/9/10 win team 2nd year, that in the first year you were 1-11 or 4-8? Not really. A bad year's a bad year.
