That'll teach us.

Maybe he's a Buddhist and doesn't realize we as Blazer fans already know the first lessons on "life is suffering".

Anime, You have been defending Pres. Watts and others on this issue for several weeks.. You have told us not to freak out over the ongoing concerns that have been raised. But let me ask a few questions...

How hard would it be to say a few words to the University, students, alumni, and future students that the football program is not going to be dismantled?

How hard would it be to say a few words for student athletes, not only football, but all our Blazers, that your future is secure at the university and we are not going to lose the 80+ football scholarships and the additional women sports scholarships, band scholarships, and others that would result from the loss of the football program?

How hard is it to tell potential 2015, 2016, 2017 student athletes and others that UAB athletics and other programs will be here for you, so if you want to come to UAB and not some other school, you can?

How hard is it to tell past athletes that we honor their time and sacrifices at UAB and we are not going to tarnish the history they created?

How hard is it? Its not! Plain and simple and takes less than a few dang minutes to MAN UP AND TAKE THE F%&#'in responsibility to say HEY GUYS AND GALS! GO BLAZERS IN 2017 AND BEYOND!

See...not hard....

I don't know that dude from Adam, but if I was in his shoes I guarantee you I wouldn't say a thing at this point either just out of spite.

If he is trying to spite the fans, donors, students, and alumni of the university then that in and of itself is a problem, even if there isn't nor never was a plan to shut down football.

Thankfully UAB has nine coaches who decided to speak up where Watts was silent

Yeah - those other UAB coaches who are standing up for UAB are just dreaming that their jobs are not on the line. When they say that they were told to be quiet... I guess they were imagining that.

Come on - get your head out of the sand. This is a real concern. 07-coffee3

When Tulane went through a self-imposed "Review" in 2003, it brought out the worst in a lot of our fans, too. The continued existence of the football program was explicitly on the table as something to be discussed and debated.

We also had to deal with some leadership that was neutral (at best) to Tulane's athletic program, and some fans who acted as if the "real problem" was other fans who wouldn't relax and be quiet about the whole thing. Rudeness and uncalled-for comments were frequent, and (within Tulane community) the fault-lines created by those arguments are still visible 11+ years later.

There are things I have posted and have allowed to be posted here that had I not confirmed personally I would not have allowed.
Some here will scoff at that statement and make fun but those who know who I have been in contact with know and also understand why sometimes we simply cannot name names as it will cost people their jobs. No exaggeration.

I would not do anything to intentionally hurt this program and everything we have done is for the long term survival and prosperity of UAB and UAB Athletics.

I will say this. I have been amazed at the overall unity of response. In my 30+ years associated with UAB I've never seen so many people and groups come together for UAB with such ferocity. Even the average person on the street with who might be a supporter of other schools have made it known that what is going on simply isn't right. They have made university leadership, the BOT and the NAS the outliers instead of the other way around.

So... I went out of town and off grid for the holiday and everyone started to sh*t on me in this thread. It's great to be on a 30% warning and truly unable to respond to attacks btw...

Anyway, bring me up to speed. What happened on "D Day"? I read Clark's twitter message thanking folks for supportive emails, etc. The program has been getting a lot of love because of this upheaval that's for sure.

But from "down here in the sand" it still looks like we have a game Saturday (and therefore a program...)?

I have said our football program has support and therefore cannot be shut down. When.... When was this statement proven wrong exactly? You can't tell a crowd "None of you are here, so go away!" it's a nonsense statement... How can you tell a crowd simultaneously to leave and that they don't exist to do so?

Also, BITE ME!
