In similar situations the scholarships are generally honored for the duration of the 4 year term.

But football scholarships are only one year scholarships...same as Marching Band.

Would players be allowed to transfer without penalty if the program is dissolved?

Yes, the problem is if football exist the players could not be release until after 2016. Unless the school releases them. Mackin usually does not do that.

UAB has a contact with Clark thru 2016. If he went to another school they would have to pay UAB unless he could prove he was mislead. I would sue but I believe in this situation UAB would reach a deal with Clark.

I believe UAB football survives. Clark gets an extension and we start on the indoor faculty. Once that is paid off the city states it will pay for half of a stadium and the foundation raises the rest. This way the BOT saves face and states it just wanted the city to step up. Watts and Mackin states they were working behind the scene. The city wins because UAB stays and the high school championship considers to move back to Birmingham along with other events. In a lot of ways this is good it rest the question about UAB.

I said that "I believe". Had you rather me say we're doomed and were playing our last home game Saturday. That all this talk has effected the team and the Board is stacked against us. Mackin and Watts are being paid off and we basically just lost our athletic program. I chose to believe and dream big like Volker. If I'm wrong basically I have wasted a whole lot of time over the last two decades but I got some great friends.

I believe, too. I keep thinking of all those times Mackin said things will take care of themself. Look at his body of work. Baseball is now playing in a brand new stadium a block from campus, minor league baseball is essentially on campus, soccer is about to get a major uplift, and softball has a nice new stadium. Not to mention sand volleyball has made its presence on campus. It makes me believe Mackin knows what he's doing, especially with the upper hand with the BOT after the OCS ordeal. Maybe he had to conduct this with the BOT in order to go through the stadium process officially.

That's what we're hoping, that Mackin is keeping his cards very close to his vest and has a plan and an ace up his sleeve. He has indeed done a good job of pecking away incrementally at olympic sports facilities. I give him full credit for that.

The problem is that at a time when so many of us are very concerned, he is showing no obvious leadership, only releasing a mush-mouthed statement that could mean anything. That's why he's increasingly in a vice with the fan base. We want someone, anyone, to grow a pair, stand up, and say out loud what's going on.

I hope that he's working it. We'll see in a couple of weeks.

Might be, but still bet he could out coach three of the other four coaches we've had.

I'm thinking Mackin was already in a catch -22 before we got wind of this. And now we aren't steering but we have affected the direction of this train wreck.

"The most exciting time in UAB Athletics", knowing full well football is on the chopping block, is at least a very stupid thing to say.

That's why I think he's been on the phone begging to the A-10, Big East, and whoever else would take his calls. Maybe he thinks he has a deal lined up where he can play the saviour of basketball. After all, football is only holding us back from being a basketball power, right? (/bluefont)

Your right about the dog, but I was taking exception with the age factor.
I guess old f--ts stick together.
