Ha. Might as well. Just give him a head set and let him wander the sideline.

That is going to be one ugly press conference when that day comes around. With the level of apathy around here, I bet that more UAB fans turn out for the road game against Southern Miss than the "home" game against Marshall.

You can rest assured that at the very least the numbers will be reported that way.

The more I think about it, the less I can get worked up to care. Seems to me that the absolute best we can hope for is a Pyrrhic victory; Keeping football, but losing the first coach we've had worth a damn, and no other coach worth a damn willing to give us the time of day. I know, I know, "Clark wants to be here", etc, etc, but it doesn't matter. Look at his quotes in the Solomon article.

There are two ways to look at the football program , neither has ever been explained to me.Maybe y'all can help. 1) If the athletic department actually pays the school for scholarships i given, the undergraduate programs will lose many dollars if the program is closed (85 x the cost of a scholarship) 2) If the athletic department does NOT pay for scholarships what is the big expense to the program. I have always wondered why there is a cost to add another person to a freshman English class that already has 75 students.

bingo
it is accountant money or cloud money pure and simple ,,,,it can be debate but it is farce
it is exactly like when you order food for 4 people and you paid x amount of money and four people paid for it
if you invited another person and he or she doesnt paid anything the whole price doesnt go up

RE: Results from study to be revealed after last game, coach Bill Clark says
The thing to remember, because it is hard to when operating under a perceived threat, is that we don't really know a damned thing about what's going on. So on the one hand we want to be proactive, to fight the threat to something we value, and on the other we don't really know what the threat is or who it is coming from.
Mackin might be keeping quiet and protecting his job, or he may be fighting behind the scenes, playing it close to the vest, and waiting for his moment. Watts may be a classic East side of the campus guy, wanting all the money for research and the med side, or he may be doing the scientist thing, doing research and getting his facts all in a row before going forward.
In two or three weeks we'll know. It's hard as hell to keep a level head. I don't mind being wrong, but I don't want to have to eat some nasty words when it's over either.
Just trying to take a deep breath and keep things in perspective.

If Clark left I wouldn't be surprised nor can I blame him. That being said, the man is a fighter and not a quitter. I think his quotes are his way of playing poker with Watts and trying to force his hand. The only way Clark can fight this is quotes in the media, and he is using his words very carefully.
If we manage to win this battle then I think he stays, but we have got to keep fighting. Until Clark quits, I'm still emailing, calling, and doing whatever small effort I can to help. It is the least I can do to honor Coach Bartow.

Please dont take this the wrong way. But clark will be gone as soon as someone offers more money and there will be a lot of coaching shake ups this year. He was probably leaving whether this whole fiasco occurred or not. He left his alma mater for cash theres no way hed choose uab over more cash.

Exactly - the incremental cost is $0 - unless you are turning away regular students due to lack of space (which isn't the case).
I plan to mention that and some additional analysis in my letter going out on Monday.

They refer to him as "Dollar Bill" in Jacksonville.

He also likes the fact that he didn't have to uproot his family from Piedmont.

He makes what, 200, 300k more here? I think he can put up with being called "Two-Hundred Thousand Dollar Bill" for that.
We understand that you are angry and bitter, but wouldn't you change jobs for a couple of hundred thousand dollar raise?
And the post above is correct, you don't have a clue what's going on here.

He was paid around 175k (I think) while at JSU. He makes 600k at UAB. At minimum he makes 400k+ more a year and tripled his salary. Everyone would take that job. Pretty much every coach ever would take a job going from FCS to FBS.
If he leaves UAB for another job I certainly won't hate the guy, nor would I blame him after all of this mess.
If anything, JSU fans should be thanking Clark for hiring good assistants who ended up replacing him. If Clark hadn't been there, Grass wouldn't have either most likely.
