Still, wouldn't it be pretty obvious at that point that Bama is just doing this because the team has gotten decent now?
Might explain why Garrick McGee Left for an OC job though.

Interesting read and eye opening. Hard to believe two men, St John and Bryant, have had that much negative influence on the program.

Birmingham and UAB supporters, alumni, students, fans, need to pull out all the stops. Once it is dead it is dead.

They have raised hell before... Alabama will do whatever it wants unless the state government steps in.

That's exactly what this is. Attempt at a preemptive strike by the boosters. Might not work but we'll be damned if we go down without a fight.

Here is something that I think we'd all sign a petition for.
I feel bad for the students, alumni, players, and fans. This is been grinding along forever with no facilities and more often than not put together a competitive team.

Is there an agency above the Board of Trustees? If not, who 'runs' Auburn, Troy, etc?

Even if the program is not killed, just the negative publicity has got to hurt recruiting efforts.
Sucks.

The Legislature and the Governor are above the BOT in any state. Governor appoints its members. Does anyone honestly think the Governor of Alabama will go against the University of Alabama?
As for Troy and Auburn, they are separate schools and part of their own systems...Alabama cant touch them. Closest example I can offer is UALR, which is controlled by the University of Arkansas in all functions. (Hence why they don't have football)

This board actually isn't even appointed by the governor. They get to nominate their own replacements.

Wow, Arkansas you have to be appointed by the Governor. Its why we've been making such a big deal in previous elections about crossing party lines and keeping an ASU Grad as Governor, we knew he would only do what is in the best interest of the school.
