I guess we're going to have to knock App off their pedestal this week.

Or, if you were Cam Newton, you could knock us off our pinnacle.

Wow what a football game. Perfect weather, tough tight contest, and a winning kick after ULM made an incredible play on 4th down for the lead TD. Makes the trip back to ATL a lot easier to take. Both teams played great and made lots of key plays. Luckily App finally made a winning kick!

Great game by two evenly matched teams. Impressed with ULM. We had a lot of fun in our section. One of the most fun wins in a while at The Rock. Go Apps!

Congrats Mountaineers. As a ULM fan I'm very disappointed in this season, as I think coaching has cost a pretty good team quite a few wins. I was very impressed with App and am very glad to have you guys in the conference. I look forward to many great games in the future and can't wait to host y'all next year. Good luck the rest of the year and excuse me while I go back to my pity party. :(

Congrats to app state definitely earned this one. Everytime I thought we where about to pull away there App would come back with a great drive and also the first offensive line to completely neutralize ULMs pass rush.

Great win over what may be the best visiting team to ever play in KBS. The only one I think may have been better was the '96 Marshall team with Randy Moss, Florida transfer QB Eric Kresser, two 1,000 yard rushers in Erik Thomas & Doug Chapman and 3-time All-American defensive tackle Billy Lyon and future AA BJ Cohen leading a defense that gave up 14 points per game. That crowd won 15 straight and their closest game of the year was a 14 point win over the Apps in KBS. Looking forward to many more games between our two schools and visiting Monroe.

Do you think ULM was better than the Adrian Peterson GS teams? I definitely put ULM up towards the top, but not sure I'd go with #1.

Thanks Gonzo. We have a pretty level headed fan base and I think we do a lot with our budget, but this team we have has been done a disservice by coaching this year. They are way better than their record shows. So, glad to have you guys in the conference and definitely want to make it to Boone soon. I'm a fan of Giant Killers and my Warhawks and the Mountaineers have born been good at that. Looking forward to a long history with App and GS in a friendly respectful rivalry, although I did see some fire between our players, which was a good thing. Any idea what our safety did to get ejected from the game? Normally you have an unsportsmanlike and a warning before ejection.

The refs thought he threw a punch but we didn't see it in the stands and when I watched the replay on ESPN3 they didn't really show it either. Strange call that early in the game.

RE: ULM @ App State, Game Week Thread
20 and 31 were jawing at App players a lot before and after every play. I saw a ref physically grab 20 and 83 for App and tell them something the second play of the game. Then when 20 had the late hit and to me appeared to say something to the App player the ref likely held to his word and kicked him out.
The refs did a good job or catching it early and setting clear expectations. Not sure why both squads were so chippy at the start.
Interesting stat, before the game ULM had the lowest penalty average. App's opponents have the highest penalty average and ULM followed suit. Is it the old guard trying to send a message to the new kid in town?

Peterson was to GaSo what Edwards was to App. Just as the the TO made the Eagles tough to defend when App went to the Spread few teams knew how to defend it. Those two players and the uniqueness of those offenses made those teams great. IMO, the talent level of ULM was better top to bottom than those GSU teams.

In the espn3 replay you can get a brief glimpse of punch being thrown by 20.

What I saw appeared to be more like the DB's hand pushing the facemask up with the palm of his hand. Certainly nothing to warrant an ejection.
