Better question (since this thread is useless anyway). Is ETSU aiming for FBS football?
Or Mercer maybe. ETSU is a school that we always liked, but hard to believe the SBC would consider them for many years after ETSU dropping football, not having an on campus stadium right now and years of hearing them discuss they dropped football because of the expense. Would welcome them, but have doubts as to that being anywhere close to a feasible possibility.
Mercer isn't. As for ETSU, officially? Nah. Unofficially, increased budget, added fees, and they're building a smaller version of UNC-Charlotte's stadium. They hired a head coach with FBS experience, a 2nd in command in athletics (soon to be A.D.) with FBS experience. The only thing the dome is used for now is football practice, basketball practice and strength/conditioning. There's also indoor hitting cages for softball/baseball and fairly decent tennis courts, too. So unofficially, with a budget that would be mid level Sun Belt, a really nice indoor practice facility for football, basketball, baseball, softball, and tennis, men's hoops in something that sort of resembles a basketball arena (Freedom Hall if you've been to JC), and women's bb back in a renovated Brooks Gym, yes. I think there are mid to long term aspirations of FBS grandeur. I also believe UT-C wants to come with us.
Do they still play in the airplane hangar with the cement floor?

ETSU and Chattanooga..no support, no thanks. I know we have a red G problem in South Georgia but it is nothing like the orange T in Nooga and especially East TN.

Word on twitter that it was a grad assistant. Wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the window lickers on Panther talk. This seems like their uneducated dribble of useless facts.

Let me get this straight... a GSU student(if a grad asst... still a student) posted something on a wall on campus talking smack about the upcoming opponent. Shut down the school. Launch a full investigation. I want his head by morning. Surely this vile, repugnant thing doesn't happen at the fine higher learning institution in Stateboro. For shame jbullows1 on the Twitter. For shame.

It's no different than the Crimson A and Navy blue/orange AU problem Troy, UAB, and South Alabama have. It's no different than the red pig that Arkansas State deals with. It's no different than the issue that Louisiana, La. Tech, Tulane, and Louisiana Monroe have with that Bengal Tiger in their state. It's no different than that burnt orange, aTm problem Texas State deals with. It's no different than the blue NC, red pack of wolves, and even the orange T that Appalachian State deals with. And guess what? Middle Tennessee, Memphis, and every other school in Tennessee has an orange T they have to compete with for dollars and fans.
Depending on your age, you may or may not have seen what happens when ETSU is successful in a high profile sport. It's like I said, in the short term, it's not a viable option. They've still got some folks to run off (Bartow and a few administrative holdovers). You remember what it used to be, which if you take the pilgrimage to Moscow you should have some flashbacks of dome life. They, along with UNI, and Idaho State built theirs properly. It'll be fun to watch it grow, there's FCS level talent in Tennessee, and we gotta win there to gain back the ten years of alums lost thanks to the poor choices of the now unemployed.

At the end of the day Georgia Southern would have to beat us 80-0 for a loss to them to be our worst in team history. Lambuth(ugh) & St. Francis(shivers) will rank ahead of whatever y'all do to us. Always. And what is crazy is due to GS fans always reminding us about those two, it makes the concept of losing to y'all no where near as bad as it would be y'all losing to us.

No one talks smack about Erk. No one. Especially some dimwit State student. Those are almost actual fighting words.

When it does, it's because they're "passionate," not anything negative. It's the same school of rhetoric followed by my wife.
(BTW, I really don't think it was James, and if it wasn't, props to him for being well-known enough to get blamed for it!)

RE: How Georgia State Brought a Great Reckoning on Themselves
Heh...now there's a trip down memory lane. Funniest thing to me is seeing myself use the word "rhetoric." In the last four years, that and "narrative" have become pretty much my least favorite words in the English language.

I realize this is from the year y'all rolled us, but that's still a statement that I didn't realize would change so much with four years' perspective...
