In the middle of the bye week he likely had a sit down discussion with the AD and got the option to retire or be fired

Man he's been coach at Troy since I started kindergarden and I had my 10 year high school reunion last year. That really puts things in perspective.

Thanks, I hope we do too. With the right coach who wants to build something we could do great. With the wrong coach or one that bolts after a good year we could see a lot more poor seasons.

Any names being thrown around yet?

I remember when I was a sophomore @ Troy State & he was hired. I remember thinking why are we hiring an Auburn loser? He was awesome for this program, state & the growth of TROY.

Now the search begins. I look forward to new energy & drive.

I haven't heard of any names. I know this, if Troy is to get a well respected energized coach my boys will have to come up with $$$$. I think stAte & ULL has shown us the way in that regard

I have a feeling you better get used to the idea of coaches bolting after a good season. You have been really spoiled, but now it will be reality. Good news is....it doesn't have to be a bad thing.

I'm hearing from a source that Gene Chizik will be the new HC at Troy.....

Well... the last ousted Auburn coach we hired stayed for 24 years and moved Troy from D-2 to FBS... who knows

He still lives in Auburn, so that would be an easy relocation. And he doesn't need a huge contract since he is still making a pretty penny from Auburn.

He did come to a Troy spring practice this off season.

Its far easier to build off a one and done with a really good season, than it is to build off a 5 year coach and a bunch of 4 win seasons.

yeah and a number of others....but dont say Chizik. Other names are floating around campus and Houston Nutt is one of them. The AD does have ties to him since he came from Ole Miss.

Or...you could just hire a failure.

He's nothing without Gus Malzahn running his offense. I imagine Troy will go in another direction, unless your AD is just lazy.

I hear June Jones is looking for a job and Charlie Weis is always an option.
