Gave the Hawks a verbal today. Which of the juniors will be gone next year?

RE: CJ Bryce
I'm hearing that Lebron James is mad that Keatts didn't recruit him! If so, I'm pretty sure that he would have played college ball here at the beach, if he was the coach here at that time. Crazy times....Who knows at this point Proff? We've always been glad to get a commit to UNCW and now it appears that everybody wants to come on down. Gotta have the right mix regardless of "talent". Maybe he speculating but there has to be a vehicle/open ship to make it happen.

Looking at what he could bring...yes, sounds like a very good player. Time will tell. I'd like to simply try and get a "warm and fuzzy" with what we already have. And,that is a lot to look forward to already with all the new talented signees and xfers. I don't want to see anybody go (not normal for the Hawks for sure), but we have to see what happens.

RE: CJ Bryce
"C.J. Bryce (SF, 6’5, 2015) One of, if not the most explosive athlete in the gym today. Putback timing is his calling card, and timing is something that translates to every level of basketball. Easily gets above the rim, great touch on the ball, can finesse the ball over players on the move without even hinting at a charge. Great bounce and agility. Colleges should be actively recruiting him."

RE: CJ Bryce
"C.J Bryce is the real deal. We personally feel scouts and college coaches still vastly underrate him, but the college coaches in attendance are probably glad to hear just that. While Bryce is getting some interest from Pittsburgh, Tennessee and VCU, it seems like he is trending at the mid major plus level. That being said, he has gotten considerably stronger and has a much-improved jumper. He has the ability to create his own shot off the dribble and has outstanding body control. As a matter of fact, I’m feeling guilty that is ranking on a state level is way too low at number 8. He has a nice blend of athleticism and skill set that speaks volumes."

Well, SOMEBODY will be gone. The natural thing to think is that it will be a junior who has graduated....voluntarily or involuntarily leaving...but who knows?

As a thought experiment, suppose Keatts figured that in today's world you never know who might be leaving that you don't anticipate. In that case, Bryce fills that slot. On the other hand, suppose no one wants to leave, including a graduating junior? Well, then I suppose you invite an underachiever to accept his diploma and move on.

It will end up coming back to bite him. You push players out of your program that were brought there from across the country no less, doing their work, and upstanding citizens and that kind of thing gets around. You think their high school and AAU coaches don't know this and talk with others coaches? You are getting better players but at what cost.

Hager could have stayed on an academic scholarship and graduate from UNCW. He chose to move on and play this year somewhere else. I don't blame him one bit. My question is, do we have anyone that could fit that bill? Probably not but might be an option.

If this is handled properly, and that is a questionable if, things are turning around very quickly.
