Hobart Indiana PF Aleks Novakovich is reportedly on his official visit to W&M this weekend. 6'9 200lbs. Skinny but skilled. Not a leaper, but very comfortable with the ball in his hands- especially at the high post. He needs size and development, but stands to get a lot of early playing time here. His build and skillset remind me a little of Tim Rusthoven's high school highlights. For reference sake, Beasthoven was 190lbs as a HS senior and 210lbs here as a freshman.

Let's hope he likes what he sees.

Looks good to me. Not much of a post game, but at this point......Looks like he can run the floor.

We need him plus one graduate transfer. Then, we should be set.

Believe he had just enrolled in Bosco Prep as a post grad, so, no guarantee he's planning to make the jump in 2017.

Then why bother taking an official visit, and why bother posting a highlight video just 2 weeks ago, if he's going to do a high school victory lap? Makes no sense.

And I watched the whole video. He's raw, he doesn't have a lot of vertical, but I like the overall package and he'd get plenty of floor time if he chooses W&M. I saw enough back-to-the-basket skill to think that we can add some weight and make him a post player. Considering our extreme needs down low, I say bag him if we can. It was a beautiful weekend in Williamsburg, and I hope Aleks liked what he saw.

Grew a foot in a year and half. Agree his back to basket skills are solid. Agility only going to get better.

The whole reason for prep is to mature and snag more offers. I'm sure he is definitely open if an offer he likes comes along. The mission of a prep school is to ready kids and get them into college. Bosco coaches would be pleased if Aleks leaves to a solid D1 school.

I agree he is raw and that a prep year to mature would do him well. But these are desperate times...

If the coaches like what they see, are they likely to make an offer while he's here?

I'm guessing they have already offered him if this is an official visit. Lodging and meals are paid for by the school as well as generally being hosted by a current player. I've never heard of an official being given to a player without an offer. Especially at a school as tight on the purse strings as W&M.

This late in the recruiting process and without many other apparent options, I'd be surprised if the coaches aren't pressuring hard for a commitment before he leaves town. I guess we'll see.

Aleks would probably struggle defensively initially from a strength perspective, but I think he could thrive from the 5/Big man role on offense. He would add the significant threat of the FT and even top of the key jumper to that position and pass well too.

In Shaver's offense, a 5 who can hit the jumper from the free throw line would add an offensive dimension that we've not seen in Williamsburg for a long time. CAA defenses have never even bothered covering that shot. Sure looks like Aleks has no problem putting it up from there and further out.

His 1st offer. Feels a little desperate, but bottom line is that they need bodies. He is a true project, but has enough traits and potential to be special if his development happens. He grew a foot in a year. If he is still growing, he could be a 7 footer with guard skills and touch.

Feels a little desperate because we ARE desperate, unfortunately. No secret there, thanks to the departures of Seacat and Whitman. The thought that this kid might still be growing, though, is interesting. Here's hoping that Aleks says yes. Anyone know what kind of student he is?

I assume he has the grades and work ethic. Aleks is probably equally desperate as we're only a few months from tip off and his freshman class is probably already on campus.

Seems to me a match made in heaven. We need him, he could use a little help.

He can play right away on a competitive D1 team and not have to waste a year just to play for a slightly more established midwest team. Keep the momentum going and kick the door down!

His girlfriend just graduated, also, and committed to play basketball at Indiana University Northwest which is a stone throw from Bosco...Just saying....Always a factor.

Would imagine the official would not have been taken by him at this point in his post grad transition, unless he was seriously considering.

Relooking at his video, considering the usual post growth spurt adjustment, his development may render him a true diamond in another two years.

Would, also, imagine the offer has an expiration period, and this will go one way or the other in a short time frame.
