RE: ESPN Game Day - Mobile, AL?
I think people are also forgetting that NDSU was coming off back to back FCS national championships and had 2 weeks prior upset a preseason ranked Kansas State (who by the way beat UL the very next week by 21 points.) They had a LOT going in their favor, and it didn't hurt that Gameday KNEW they'd sell out and have a packed audience for the show.

Ga Southern vs App. State (the new youngbloods of the Belt, Eagles finishing their extensive renovations to facilities and the passionate fan bases both have)

La La vs Louisana Tech (tons of people would be at this game, LaLA will have completed their Phase 1 of their expansion to show off, they've been the darlings of every preseason magazines and beat writers so far) I dunno if can beat out the BYU vs Texas or Michigan State vs Notre Dame games that week however.

ULM vs Wake Forest (my thoughts are if they could get an ESPNU All Access show about them, then anything is possible lol)

Utah State vs Arkansas State (I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, doubt first off...despite the Nebraska/Miami match up being that week still not a whole lot of big games scheduled for that week and if the two can get off to fast, hot starts...maybe?)

Texas State vs Navy (they face STIFF competition in terms of big time match ups that week-UCLA vs Texas, Oklahoma vs Tennessee, USC vs Boston College just to name a few-but any time they can show case one of the service academies they'll do it.)

None of the above, RRW. Not going to happen. ESPN coming to Mobile isn't going to happen. BR is just publishing the absurd, nothing new. Every team and fan in the SBC can dream, but it won't happen for many years to come and not likely in this lifetime.

Agreed. It would have to be on campus next to the bell tower. With a 3pm kick, students and fans could participate then make the short drive to the stadium with plenty of time to tailgate

That's an excellent way to ensure no one goes to the game.

I think I'll have a beer.

South Alabama vs Mississippi State beats all of these and it's not even close. Plus there's not a "must see" game on 9/13

Nothing equals GS/App. Though I do agree with you n the rest.

Issue is that Miss State is not overly respected in the SEC, and USA may be seen as rising, but they've yet to pull off any sort of shocker to deserve the national accolades Gameday brings.

Nothing?! Really!?

From a national perspective, Miss St @ USA has a lot more cache than AppSt/GaSou.
Yes, I know their history and their rivalry but 90% of college football fans don't. Their two notable FBS upsets are about all that may resonate with the average fan.
Mississippi State is expected to have their best team of the Dan Mullins era and is starting to get some steam as an SEC West darkhorse.
All that being said, I have zero expectations of seeing Gameday in Mobile.
I expect they'll go to Oklahoma for the Tennessee game.

Good luck to the Jags, but I foresee alot of trouble with Dak Prescott. He was very impressive last season.

And barring injury, he'll likely be more impressive this year. The guy is good.

The defense they're bringing back will probably be a national Top 20 group.

Did we ever think that they'd be broadcasting live from Fargo, North Dakota? But it happened

Least we forget the trip Gameday took to FAMU in 2008
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzGKqOsSfpg)

Highly unlikely? Yes. Totally out of the question? I'd say no.

Some are predicting Mississippi State to finish 3rd in the SECW this year. Going to have a tough team rolling into Mobile, for sure.

Lee Fitting (ESPN) just said on the Paul Finebaum Show that next week's Gameday is at a location way off the radar and will surprise a lot of people. The site will be announced tomorrow.

Dave Miller @Miller_Dave

@leefitting also said on @finebaum that next week's @CollegeGameDay destination will be "a shocker."

I think this was a joke...but I'm not sure. Could happen, right?

Has it been announced yet? Definitely pulling for Mobile (on the assumption that Air Force @ GSU isn't a possibility...).

I haven't seen anything. Oregon's suck was a guest picker and it took too much time. You could see Chris trying to rush it and the Oregon/Michigan State video was cut short. They never said.

Yeah, it is. We did make the playoffs last year. 04-rock

I noticed that. The Duck was funny, though. Normally, I would think that there was a conspiracy to change the location, but Fowler was trying to speed the picks as you said. (Unless, that was a cover-up 03-shhhh)
