Can't imagine we make this trip without a return visit from Rice next year, which assume would be coordinated with a conference game at ODU.
Rice is a nice add, even if on the road. They also lost their top two scorers from last year's team so it's a road game with a solid chance to win.
They only draw 1500 or so to their games, well below W&M, so can't see any financial reason why this couldn't be a H/H arrangement.
We did play them H/H back when the Hall first opened.
So now, appears we have 3 home and 6 road games known. I have to think the one or two left will be bottom feeder home games.

I have been to W&M Hall six times in the past two weeks--at six different times of the day; every time Marcus is out there shooting baskets! I did find out that there's no truth to the rumor that he's rooming there this year!
If his dedication to the game is any measure we're going to see one heck of a year from
one of the College's all-time great athletes.

I too, have seen Marcus practicing, [99% of the times alone] every time I have passed thru W&M Hall over the past four years. His dedication to the sport and drive to mprove himself is just simply amazing. I expect it is his goal to play in the NBA; and he just might do it!

In your travels to the Hall, any signs of Oliver Tot? I haven't seen mention of him since classes began. He's not a twitter guy, so I can't be nosy there. I remember him getting hurt with the Slovak team weeks ago, but that was supposedly minor. Any word if he is on campus?

If Marcus and Omar are both first team worthy this year, it could be a VERY special season.

Marcus & Omar will be fine. The team will go as far as it rebounds and defends.

Sure, but fine and first team are a big gap. I don't believe that the two guys are both first team without what you mention.

This team is built on perimeter offense. That's fine until you run into good teams on cold shooting nights. Defense travels much better than offense. It's a paint game. I like Marcus and Omar; but am particularly interested in DIxon and Tarpey. They must be ready when Marcus and or Omar go cold. Sheldon needs backup big time.

Totally agree. There may be off nights, but with this offense and the quality of guard scorers that Shaver has brought in, scoring enough points is rarely the problem. Our problem lies in giving up easy 2nd shots and playing soft enough D that teams can keep up. I think the team is in for a solid year. If Sheldon and Whitman have developed and give tougher inside play than expected, this could be a great year.

Agreed that Sheldon and Whitman are critical. If Sheldon shows similar improvement this offseason as last we will be in good shape. I may be wishful thinking, but I just don't see a huge drop off from last year and with the right steps forward from our front court could even be better than last year.

RE: '14-'15 Men's B-ball
The key will be offensive production in the front court. Rusthoven had a very nice touch down there. I think Sheldon is probably more physical, but his offense was still developing last year. Interested to see what Whitman is like after a redshirt year to grow and learn.

RE: '14-'15 Men's B-ball
The half court sets often times ran through Rusthoven in the post where he had a solid back to the basket game. The Sheldon we know didn't show much of a college level post up game. He was opportunistic and scrappy with his scoring. He was excellent passing and moving from the high post, though. I'd be pleased with just a bigger & stronger Sheldon that knows his role and limitations. Play the pick and roll game, defend, and crash the boards. Scoring isn't necessary for him to help the team or the offense to function. If he has developed some consistent post moves, than bonus. Whitman is a complete ?. I haven't seen him play or practice in 2 years.

Whitman is listed as 225. I hope he has gotten bigger this past year.

RE: '14-'15 Men's B-ball
We're going to see much more pressure defense and transition game this year. The team is built for that and having a deep bench at the 2 and 3 will let him substitute and keep folks fresh. Shaver has been moving to this since he's been here.
