In the women's triple jump, Daisy Ding was third with a season best of 12.60 meters (41β€˜ 4.25"). This puts her #40 in the NCAA this season.

Russell - If you get a chance to speak to Billy, please tell him "Hello" from Hal Gosnell. We were Lieutenants in the Marine Corps together at Quantico in 1963-1964. It has been so long he may not remember me, but I sure remember him. As good a person as he was an athlete.

I hope I meet him.

On the track, Heather Olson won the steeplechase in about 10:45. She just sat behind another runner all the way until 200 to go (itβ€˜s WINDY) then just crushed it.

A dramatic conclusion to the women's shot put, as Claire Uke unleashes a throw of 16.11 meters (52' 10.25") on her 6th and final throw to move from 3rd to 1st!!!

Men's pole vaulter Chris Pillow finished 2nd with a clearance at 5.36 meters (17β€˜ 7"). He was the top collegian. Ironically, the 3rd place finisher, Casey Bowen of Kansas, who also cleared 17' 7", is tied with Pillow at #4 in the NCAA this outdoor season.

Nice jobs by all.

For those interested in reading a bit more on Billy Mills, here's an article from Runner's World a couple of years ago.
