RE: Gustys visiting UAB?
Tulane is a crappy basketball program, a really highly regarded school academically, and in a fun, exciting city. It's got 2/3 things going for it, but the kids a basketball player. If he was choosing on the best PT situation and chance to make runs in the tourney the next 3-4 years, UAB would be the school to choose. Same goes for Hofstra. Also, we will be playing a NATIONAL schedule next year. We will have games on tv. I think that will continue under haase.

Ok so what games will UAB have on TV next season? And will these games be viewed through out the season or just for the Atlantis tourney? And make runs in what tourney? UAB hasn't made a run in any tourney for a couple of years now. Clearly a post made through green and gold lenses but that's cool.
Ok, if the kid wants to be on ESPN then it is a no-brainer Tulane is the choice. Caliber of opponent in conference for the next 4 years, Tulane would be the choice. Location? Tulane is the choice.
What is in UAB's favor, Coach Haase. Kids only care about the present and Haase having that UNC pedigree could convince the kid to sign at UAB. On the other hand, his choices are UAB, Tulane, and Hofstra. Is the kid really good or are we just enamored about his height? I mean the kid is tall right?

RE: Gustys visiting UAB?
We have our best recruiting class probably in the last 11 years. That's why we're set up to make runs in the tourney for the next few years. If we don't, there's something wrong with the coaching and/or talent development.
All of our games in Atlantis plus the game at UNC will be televised. If we were to come out really hot, we may have more picked up.
Your saying a lot of the things I said. New Orleans hands down more fun and exciting than Birmingham. Yes they will have more games on tv and against better opponents. What does that matter if your team sucks and you don't win any of those games? Would you rather play for a DePaul or a good "mid major" program. I know what I'd pick. If it was purely a basketball decision, he'd pick UAB. If he wants to live in a really fun city and play for a bad team that'll be lucky to make the NIT, hell pick Hofstra or Tulane. We will see how it goes.
I'm one of the more objective and realistic UAB fans here. You're an idiot if I think I wear green and gold glasses all of the time.

Yep, I think you were one of the ones (myself included) that stopped drinking the McGee Kool-Aid somewhere around the 2012 Memphis game debacle.

I remember all of the Atlantis games being televised this past season. Lee was ranked around 75 on rivals I believe (it may have been one of the other recruiting websites). That's higher than anyone else we've signed since I've been a fan. The other guys aren't half bad either

We don't know how good this recruiting class will be. Good on paper doesn't always translate to good on the court. And I didn't say you view things through green and gold glasses all of the time. Just thought you did this particular time.

How many Rutgers and Houston games were on TV this past season? The AAC has a better TV deal without a doubt, but I don't recall seeing a lot of crappy AAC teams televised this past season. I could be way off, I really can't remember seeing them though.

Just matters the AAC has a better TV package and if you're good, you'll be on national TV.

That's my point, Tulane will never be good enough to be on a lot of national tv games

That TV deal the AAC has with ESPN; It is for showing UCONN, Cincy, and Memphis games. Tulane will only be shown on tv while they get their teeth knocked in by those 3 schools at their place.
There is no way ECU @Tulane gets shown on any ESPN channel.

You don't know that. Just like you or I don't know if UAB recruiting class will end up being a good class.

This is the only place I've seen in which folks can argue for their own team in a manner that makes others argue against their own team

Maybe we just lost out to Tulane and Hofstra? I seriously doubt a better option opened up the night before he was expected to make his decision, but I hope I'm wrong!
