RE: 2014 SBC Spring Practice Thread
Anybody else starting this (referencing GaState above) early?

We begin March 25. 12 practices, 3 scrimmages.

RE: 2014 SBC Spring Practice Thread
I think Coach Miles said we were starting early to get in one week before Spring Break and then will resume after the break.

That makes sense.

We were supposed to start Feb 28th (with Spring Game Apr 5) but the coaching change put an end to that one. New start date is March 18th.

The Cajuns first spring practice is today I believe.

Side note Alonzo Harris is up to 240lbs, gonna be a nightmare to stop. I figure he will trim down to around 225-230 by the time Sun Belt play is here.

In reference to Georgia Southern, Coach Trent Miles said, "We'll be honored to play them."

On this season, "We could improve 20 times from last year, and still not win."

At least someone up there has a clue. Seriously though, ya'll have a head coach with a great head on his shoulders, just hope he gets ya'll turned around before he finds another gig somewhere.

Good luck, Panties!

That is the first time I've seen CTM speak/do an interview, and I can see why you guys are so high on him. Seems like a great coach. Like Sleepy said, for your sake, I hope he sticks around for you guys and doesn't jump ship after your first 5+ win season.

Sounds like we are starting ours later than most. I would imagine some of that has to do with having almost an entirely new coaching staff.

Assuming they were going headlong into practice with what they have been doing and now a new DC comes in who, likely, is changing everything...starting with basic schemes. I'd imagine the D has been "in the classroom" before getting out on the practice field. I know the guys have still been doing their individual workouts and S&C is continually going on.

I guess we have to wait for the snow to melt, and the fields to thaw before we.... wait... never mind.

Gotta make sure it's hotter than 10,000 suns, and the gnats are so thick the trainers are actually calculating caloric intake from eating so many during practice.

Sounds about right. I can hear the whistles of practice from my house, will be a nice sound in the coming weeks.

I think they are just a very experienced staff with a lot of BCS and NFL experience to them and they realize what the FCS to FBS jump means in the best of circumstances. Marshall loaded up pre NCAA transition rules and had a team with several NFL draft choices including two #1s. NCAA made sure that would never happen again. So unless you play in a depleted WAC you are going to take your lumps. The jump just in line play is ridiculous. The linemen you find even in the G5 level do not typically fall down to FCS unless they transfer. OL play was a big issue for us. As for CTM leaving that is up to Becker. As long as Levick is roaming around all bets are off to keeping Miles or Hunter or getting Curry involved in fund raising.
