UAB had a down year in football and mediocre year in basketball. UAB may just have the most talent on the basketball court in CUSA next year. There will be a lot of youth, but I can see UAB winning or at least contending for the league title next year.

The best way to tell a flagship is when they complain about the long travel to El Paso. 2 columns today complaining about the travel distance from both writers covering Marshall and MTSU with quotes from athletics officials. Not UTEP's fault they actually turn out for their teams so they get selected to host because they will support the tournament. They deserve to host.

The distinction goes to who bids the most not who has the best attendance. It's about money, but nice try.

BTW, why is this thread still going? It was rediculous earlier and still is; therefore the discussion should have ended but didn't. So, may I say it again. End of discussion. Thank you.

Speaking of ridiculous, trying to decouple the money from attendance is, well, ridiculous. Amounts to deflection. Being able to bid more is closely related to expected attendance. Memphis used to have it, UTEP does now. Finding a central site for the tournament, without a strongly attended host team is a recipe for disaster. Has been that way long before realignment.

How can you declare MT as "champs" when the tournament that determines that hasn't been played ? There are actually 4 men's teams with 12-3 records. Also there are more than 3 sports in the conference so shouldn't you wait a while before declaring yourself #1 07-coffee3

Really I thought MT's claiming two Belt FB championships when you were actually co-championships was bedrock. Were you 0-2 against both your co-champs ? So guess you championships was with a little c ? Kinda like your poster claiming that MT is the men's CUSA basketball champ when 3 other teams have the same conference record & the tournament is still to be played.04-bow

The TM saga should remind folks to not believe everything that they read. Shouldn't really believe anything until the fat lady sings or she sits on ya. 05-nono
