I think OP's intent was for the 2013-2014 season only, not history or future. I'm not going to start crowning us with any distinction til the end of the spring. Although we have transitioned quite well.

They have to beat Tech in a game in any sport before I'm willing to say that. 05-stirthepot

Oops... forgot about Women's BB.

I'm SO glad we're with UAB. :D

My feeling is UAB must always be in the same division with Middle Tennessee.....

If that's the case, I guess ya'll will be moving west w/ us in a couple of yrs when Charlotte comes in? I wish we were staying in the east but it doesn't look that way. In the east we'd have easy travel for fans for WKU, MTSU & USM every year but in the west too many western teams are too far west for fan travel in large numbers.

If the ACC proposal to eliminate the division requirement for fbs champ games is approved then we won't have to worry about it.

This Middle fan isn't running around thumping his chest. We had a very successful first year, but definitely not time to start bragging. We need to win a hoops title that does not have the prefix "Co-" in front of it, we need to win a conference tourney, we need to win another bowl game, WBB needs a deep run into the Big Dance. We can't ride our Sunbelt successes either. Yes, a lot of the better SunBelt programs moved with us, but just like Middle, they are experiencing better recruiting, increased donations, etc to improve their programs as well. We CANNOT be so giddy about this first year that we relax and get over confident. We did well, but we are not there yet.

We can be giddy, though. You see our latest men's hoops commitment's name ? 04-cheers

As some posters, including a few MT fans, have already stated, this is waaaayy too early to start making statements like that. Having had a successful year in a couple of sports doesn't automatically elevate you to the status of "best all around program" in CUSA. Had you limited your statement to this year and this year alone, most folks probably wouldn't see a need to pick a bone with you. Remember, CUSA is still going through a metamorphosis and until we all go through three or four years of competitive games together, no school can lay claim to a statement such as the one you may be trying to make. Mind you, ODU, UNCC, etc., are not coming into CUSA to be spectators. You took too much of a leap with that statement.

Yeah it was a good chuckle, not really a hearty laugh. Football is the only sport that matters, you can dominate in basketball all day long and that doesnt matter (see Memphis). UTEP is a bball school but we want to be football relevant, not even talking about football dominant. Win football outright a few years then we might start mentioning you as the best program in CUSA.

No.

Yes, MT has had great seasons in men's and women's basketball but we still haven't played the conference tournament yet.

There are still plenty of sports to play. I'm not ready to crown anyone the best all around program yet.

"Is MT arguably the best all around program in CUSA?"

What would be a statement that wouldn't be "arguable"? I could argue that South Dakota State is the best school in the SEC, ignoring that they aren't that good, nor in the SEC. I could argue that Neptune is the best planet ever!

So yes, they are arguably the best all around program in C-USA. Though I would probably argue against it, instead saying that they were a good addition that has transitioned to C-USA very successfully.

While we are talking about best programs, I thought this might be of interest. Blackman High School, here in Murfreesboro, has just won the state championship in girls basketball and will be crowned National champs as they are already ranked # 1 in the nation. Last year Riverdale High School, also here in Murfreesboro was crowned state and national champs. I think this could be a first, for two different schools from the same town, also MTSU has two of Riverdale's players on this years team. OUTSTANDING!!!! GO BLUE...........

With one year under the belt?

UTEP (despite its record), UAB, Charlotte, and ODU had down years in bball. If they were all at full strength (which they will be within a year or two), the top of CUSA would/will be higher.

MT did a good job, but there were 4-5 teams at the top for bball. MT wasn't alone, and the conference was weak this year.

As for football, we are not a good conference.

Program all around? Check back in 3-5 years.

This thread actually reminds me of some UTSA fan threads.
