It is quicker to get to Mobile from Lafayette than it is to get to Monroe from Lafayette.

There is no easy way from Monroe to Lafayette.

From Monroe, 2 hours south on US 165 to Alexandria, then 1.5 hours south on I-49 to Lafayette. How could it get any easier?

35 minutes west on I20

So is our President (tomorrow).

Make sure I understand...Missouri State University will have a representative at the Sun Belt Conference basketball championships in New Orleans?

I really need to write up a fake dialogue for this meeting. It would make the meeting much more enjoyable for the rest of us to read.

I agree. I had actually played out an entire backyard football scenario in my head regarding the 12th team. Here's the cliff notes.

Karl's organizing a backyard football game, but they need 1 more person to make teams even.

Johnny, played by JMU, is the cool kid in the next neighborhood that wants to play, but is waiting to hear from the other neighborhood kids that he thinks are way cooler.

Then you've got Johnny's younger brother Mike, played by Missouri State, who is a bit younger than some of the other kids and football isn't really his best sport, but he's definitely a viable option if Johnny ends up going to play with the other neighborhood kids. Some are afraid though that Johnny might not be ready for big boy football.

Then there's Larry, played by Liberty, he's the red-headed kid down the street. He's a pretty decent football player and overall a great athlete, but the rest of the kids find him REALLY annoying. Karl is good friends with Larry, but Karl understands that nobody else on the field really wants Larry to play. Everytime they pick teams Larry is standing around raising his hand but they usually just ignore him. (Some folks would rather just have an all-time QB than to let Larry play)

So at the least this would indicate Missouri St. exploring the Sun Belt it would seem.

Should add Mike can beat everybody else at basketball.

Haha yes that was implied by, "Football isn't really his best sport." Be reminded this was a dream about getting together a backyard football game. The other sports are not up for discussion in my dream. :)

FWIW - that whole thing about beating everyone in basketball is debatable.

Just so you know, TrueBlue...I'm still laughing at your analogy. Especially the "all-time QB" reference. Bravo!

Yes.

That's not THAT unusual even if a school isn't ready to pull the trigger.

Realignment is still as much about relationships as numbers on an Excel spreadsheet.

And it does not mean that Mo State is there to pull the trigger. It could well be that if Mo State is contemplating a move to FBS and the president wants to talk face-to-face with people who have made that move. Possibly the president has been invited to come down and ask questions. There only other place you can go and meet a similar sized group of institution CEO's with the relevant experience would be a C-USA meeting.

I would think that is the sane and reasonable interpretation. Not quite ready to leap to the conclusion Mo State is arriving with a six pack and a bag of ice to join the party.

I hope they are not too depressed by the turnout..they are used to having 7 or 8,000 at their games..

Let's not forget about another kid in the neighborhood, Jack ( Jacksonville State) He's pretty good at football and has nice back yard for the game ( 24,000 seat stadium) .

I'm skeptical that anyone in the west can get the votes, and not terribly confident going east gets the votes either.

The only reason to add this point is MBB. Adding just anyone for a fb championship game is silly.
