@UABathletics: #UAB announces 2-year extension to @UABBlazersFB series with #Troy. Blazers will play at Troy in 2015 and play the Trojans in Bham in 2016.


So, we will play Georgia State, South Alabama, and Troy in 2015 and 2016
Tennessee is the buy game for 2015.

Mackin is clearly trying to make the schedule easier to increase wins. I agree with this philosophy. There aren't many other fanbases that need go bowling as bad as we do. I hope we add an FCS game in 2016 and don't even play a buy game.

+1. We could use some wins. Period. (Disclaimer: Not saying that ANY of these opponents are automatic W's.)

Until UAB has actually BUILT our "planned" competitive facilities to prep our teams for "larger game hunting", we will be better served by these more modest challenges. Of course, if our facilities don't improve, even these "modest challenges" may not remain "modest" as these other schools may improve on their end during these same years. No one is going to wait around for UAB to catch up to them.

This is fantastic. Those are 3 theoretically winnable games, along with 8 in conference that should be winnable. We also don't take the physical beating of two buy games by doing this, and we get the crap FCS games off the schedule. I'm thrilled with this announcement.

Buy game in 2016 will be against another SEC opponent. (Unless the deal falls through) Not ready to be announced.

I'm glad to see this. I think the benefit we get from a winning season and the increase in morale has to be greater than a big check and 2 to 3 beatdowns every year at the hands of the SEC goons. I've been wondering for years why we play so many unwinnable games. It's not a good recipe to have a team thats been so bad for so long start in an 0-2 or 0-3 hole EVERY season. A big check may help us more in the short term, but I think getting more wins, going to some bowls, and building a fanbase and support will do more in the long run.

Build a winning program first then schedule up. I agree with this.

OK. You don't like what I said, but until our building program is moved from "planned" to "in place and used", I think I am correct. If we don't build anything but go on to sweep all before us, then I will be wrong - but not until then. Let's see what develops by Jan. 2016.
