Jim Grobe seems intriguing.......................
My choice is Clark or Jenkins but Jim Grobe took a putrid Wake Forest program and led them to the orange bowl but he also is coming off 3 straight losing seasons. I'll be glad when this is over.

Quote:Everyone realized we could win, but then we got to the point where everybody expected us to win. That’s not a good place to be at Wake Forest, especially if you’re not doing things to keep up with other programs.

If he thought that was a problem at Wake, he will be in for a surprise at UAB. Keep going Mr. Grobe.

He also went around .500% for 5 years at Ohio U, BUT they had only won 9 games in 5 years before he got there...........0-11 the year before he started. They started losing big again after he left.

I think Grobe might be the right guy for the UAB job. I think he has the X's and O's to help UAB start winning right away, then he can probably help get the ball rolling on facilities improvements after the wins start coming.

RE: Jim Grobe seems intriguing.......................
If Coach Grobe had continued to win, he would not be looking to UAB for a new job now, would he? Wake is like Vandy as a place where they have a good team with a good coach for a short time. The good assistants get hired away and their replacements may not be as good. We have seen that play out ourselves. That is why Wake's most famous athlete to pursue his sport while on a football scholarship there never played a down of football.

He clearly has no place coaching football in Alabama.

They started winning again when they hired Frank Solich. Look at the first 5 years after Grobe left.
