I tend to feel that would be a snoozer of a hire.
Only way it could be worse would be for the Falcons guy to get it.

Ohio has been to five straight bowl games.

They started winning again when they hired Frank Solich. Look at the first 5 years after Grobe left.

Yea he made Ohio and Wake Forrest into respectable programs, when before him they were nothing... like UAB now. Grobe would be a great hire I think.

Ohio had 15-42 record, the 5 years after Grobe left..........winning 26.32% of their games (the Dragon, I cleaned up my decibel point up for you).

They made a bad hire. Point is that with a good coach Ohio is not a hard place to win at

That is very true. The state of Ohio plays very good HS football......it's a high population state. Most of the MAC teams are kind of in the same boat too.

I think the same can be said at UAB, but the theory has never been tested.

Gut feeling. Would u leave a chance for an FCS championship? Bigger and better offers are a year away if he returned.

It is foolish not to leave. The future guarantees no promises.

Not really buying it... 19 jobs opened up this year, only 2 have dipped into the FCS ranks for a coach. And those two, Wyoming and E Mich, aren't really much better jobs than UAB if at all. The year before, 2012-13, 29 jobs opened up and only 1 was filled from FCS HC.... Ready.... Georgia State.

If everyone is up for getting a coach with 1 year of HC experience at the college level, and 6 or 7 years removed from high school coaching......

Can you imagine trying to recruit players to Wyoming?......and Eastern Michigan was the one FBS school school who's football attendance was a lot worse than UAB's.

Wyoming maybe; but EMU, No way it is a better job. Ypsilanti MI is across the interstate from Ann Arbor. They had 1750 for the first football home game. As much as we despise UAT, I cannot imagine sharing a city limits sign with them.
