RE: RPI report card for UAB and opponents

As it stands, our OOC slate will likely consist of:
-1 outstanding win (UNC)
-1 decent win (Nebraska)
-1 borderline WTF loss (Temple)
-2 "understandable" losses (LSU/New Mexico)
-7 very filling cupcakes
Compare this to 2011:
-1 good win (VCU)
-2 decent wins (Kent St, Arkansas)
-1 WTF loss (Arizona St)
-2 "understandable" losses (Georgia/Duke)
-7 very filling cupcakes
We have the outstanding win this year that we didn't have in 2011. But we also will finish with fewer Top 100 wins unless the top half of the league gets it going.
The good news is that only 2 of our 8 road conference games are against top-half teams (MT, Charlotte). Get a W in Murfreesboro, and it's possible we're 9-0 in league play when USM comes in.
That's a very interesting comparison. Is it just because our SOS is so bad that our RPI sucks compared to 2011? I think the cupcakes this holiday season have been extra fatty, creamy, and delicious. Any idea what our RPI was around this time of year in 2011?

In 2011, we had 10 top 100 wins I think. We'll be lucky to play 10 top 100 games this year.

RE: RPI report card for UAB and opponents
in 2010/11, 10 top 100 wins included
Kent State--78
VCU--49
UTEP--59
ECU (home and away)--96
Marshall (home and away)--54
@UCF (home and away)--69
@So Miss--63
only sub-100 loss was in the 3rd game at Arizona State
this year, 1 sub-100 loss so far (Temple)
potential top 100 wins:
Nebraska (I have my doubts that they'll stay in the top 100)
UNC (definite)
Southern Miss
the following have work to do, but could potentially get into the top 100
MTSU (twice), @Charlotte, La Tech

You guys bring up very good points in that we really need the teams hovering near 100 in the RPI to get above 100. We also need to beat said teams for that to even be very relevant. If these teams don't take care of business, I really doubt we'd get in with one top 25 win and a bunch of 200 and 300 rpi wins.
